Cafeteria Gaby - Monterrey

If you tried the cha chaan teng in Hong Kong, then you will identify that Cafeteria Gaby is the equivalent of those but in Mexico. Let's called them Mexico-style cafe. Service is kind and prices are reasonable.

The Gaby is a bustling bright spot in a run down part of Monterrey's centro with delicious food. I love these old school Mexican diners, which are slowly disappearing. The Gaby reminds me of the Pagoda and the Popular in Mexico City. Good coffee, fast service, low prices, and tasty food make these spots a winner. My green chilaquiles with eggs were perfection, as was the enormous chocolate donught. Well worth braving the rough streets of downtown Monterrey.
