The Whaling Station Steakhouse

A remarkable evening unfolded at Whaling Station Steakhouse, turning our diner date into an extraordinary culinary experience. Each dish was a masterpiece of culinary art, skillfully cooked and perfectly seasoned. The Whaling Station Cheeseburger was a flavor explosion, and the Cowboy Rib Steak showcased the chef's expertise in grilling perfection. The Pancetta-wrapped Scallops were a delectable seafood delight, and the Rack of Lamb melted in the mouth, exuding succulence. The Carpaccio was a work of art in both presentation and taste, while the French Onion Soup was a comforting start to our gastronomic journey. Whaling Station Steakhouse isn't just a restaurant; it's a symphony of flavors orchestrated by culinary maestros. Our date night was elevated to a memorable culinary adventure, and the diverse menu at Whaling Station Steakhouse promises a delightful return to savor more of their culinary masterpieces.

We were sat next to the restrooms and I smelled it and told the waiter. He said he mentioned it to the manager, yet he didn't offer to move us. I will never be coming back to a place that is trying to sell expensive steaks and seat you near the restrooms. The food is not worth the price. We spent over 300 for two of us and I guess I expected better food and ambiance. The server was very nice and attentive. When I walked out I mentioned it again to the manager and he said one of the pipes are broken so why did you seat me there? Never again!!

Staff were friendly and quick to take our order (even having a larger party). This is an old fashioned type steakhouse that you'd expect your grandparents to drag you to since they've been going there the last 50 years and haven't bothered to find a new spot. For the price, this place is a bit tired and needs to update their menu to be competitive with similarly priced steak places in Carmel and elsewhere in Monterey. The French onion soup was overly sweet and the steak rolls were greasy. They may just be banking on tourists being hungry after a day at the aquarium? One of my party ordered their filet rare and it came out medium well. For $72 at a steakhouse, you would expect the steak to be cooked accurately. The waiter was quick to fix it, but it should not have happened.

Had dinner as part of a corporate dinner event. Great service and food. We were set up in a separate room due to the size of our party. We had a pre-selected 3 course menu with several entree options. I opted for the filet, the server made accurate recommendations on the steak cooking temps.
