Bidrage med feedbackWe called into Monchengladbach at the start of our 15 day trip around Germany and once again were impressed by the food and service in Mike's Bistro. Our only regret is that we lived just over 1Km from here for 2 years and never found this Restaurant. The food, ambiance and service are all excellent
Finally I had the chance to have dinner Mike 's Bistro! It has been often highly recommended by many persons, almost promoted as the best restaurant in Mönchengladbach!! So I had some expectations and I have to say, there were met! : The location, in- outdoor, is almost cute , charming cosy. The kitchen, which is open so you see the chefs work, will most propabably charm you as it offers varied nicely presented dishes. My 3 menu course was from start to end delicious. They offer great wines as well. The staff/ Mike 's wife, was lovely: very friendly and service-minded. One feels warmly welcomed : Hopefully the next chance for diner at Mike 's won 't be in a few years as it would be a shame... Curious to discover what more they offer :
The food here was good, but quite pricey. Three small lamb chops were $100, appetizers were in the $40 range, wine $150 range. Prices were out of line with the service, quality and atmosphere.
We found MIke's Bistro based on trip advisor as we were a bit tired of the average quality food in the restaurants we have been before in Moenchengladbach, and we were positively surprised. The place is cosy and has a nice athmosphere, the menu is offering a reasonably small number of dishes considering the small open kitchen, and we liked some of the specials of the evening. All in all, we had a good time with good food and good selection of wines and certainly will return again!
Sometimes you stumble upon a real gem in a place you are visiting and this was certainly the case with MIKES BISTRO. We arrived on a busy Friday evening having made a reservation as I doubt there would have been any room for a walk in. The menu is a nice size, with specials of the day on the board, kindly translated by Anke (the chefs wife and co owner). She is also a knowledgeable wine list and made perfect recommendations. Atmosphere was cosy, nicely lit with a buzzy atmosphere. Good olives with crusty bread olive oil and balsamic vinegar automatically got us off to a nice start. Food was delightful, fresh and interesting. Oysters great, fabulous gravdlachs and gambas salad, yummy mikes Asian salad with thinly sliced duck. Mains were great too with beautiful fresh vegetable accompaniments. Couldn’t make room for dessert on first visit! Sometimes second visits can be disappointing not so here! Each chose something different and nothing disappointed. We even squeezed in room for dessert and these did not disappoint either. Mike and his two amigo chefs really do deliver a good meal at a fair price. Anke as front of house and in charge of waiting also has a great team and we could not have had a warmer welcome on both occasions. thank you both if you read this! We really can’t imagine there could be a better restaurant in monchengladbach and suggest you visit and book!
