Torii Japanese Steakhouse - Modesto

We've been coming here for years even before the remodel. We like it. It's not OMG fabulous but it's something different. However, the past two times including today, we noticed that the raw meat and chicken were together in the same pan on top of each other. The meat was on top of the chicken our whole party ate it and now we have diarrhea. I should have said something but didn't. Eat at your own risk

For the price I paid, I have to say this place is NOT worth it. Our “Chef” was either stoned or drunk… he asked us 5 times what we were here for birthday) but continued to ask if it were for a graduation. No funny jokes… No Fried rice heart, just a lot of awkward silence. He botched the flaming onion almost set us on fire) and when he did talk, he just kept cussing. We waited over an hour for a chef to even come to our table which was just ridiculous. Food was triple cooked as he kept leaving the grill and oh, thank you for the 3 bowls of secret butter sauce in EVERYTHING you cookedFIRST time here and we are never coming back. Thankful our table didn’t catch on fire

The service was horrible. Party of 8. 1st plate of food arrived at our the table took 40 minutes for the last dish to be served. No refill on drinks. Attempted to make reservations, no answer on the phone, left a message for reservation time only to be told they do not check messages for reservations. Only 2 Teppanyaki Cooks working so we were not able to sit at a grill table. The new Tori could definitely learn from the old Tori. Sad place it is now. I watched the cooks, and they need to learn the process of entertainment..Horrible. I was embarrassed for recommending this restaurant to my family. I had not been the under the new owners and will not be returning.

Fun birthday dinner! We'll worth it. No need to travel all the way to the Bay Area! This place is around the corner from my house. What a find. The Hibachi and Sushi were both excellent!

Extremely disappointed. Ordered the beef teriyaki Bento box and the beef was so tough it could have passed for jerky. The waitress took 10 min to take our order, even though there was inly 1 other occupied table at the time. Not to mention that she was rude and never checked on us. Everyone has their own standard of expectation when going to a restaurant, I understand that but, considering the cost of our dinner, checking on us even once would have been nice. Will not be going back
