Trattoria Aldina - MODENA

Our favorite restaurant in Modena. A great real local genuine Modena restaurant. Always great food and service. Reasonable prices.

Indeed it really doesn't look like a lot, but it's simple and effective! We had to wait 45 minutes for a table but glad we did ! We ordered a primi and secondi. Monica I think her name was, was really friendly and absolutely made us feel special ! For primi I had the Lasagne and my wife had the Ricotta. The Lasagne was AMAZING ! really tasty and flavourful. For secondi I had the pork with vinegar which was actually my favourite thing in italy ! My wife had the caprese which was beaufltiful. Was here on April 29th and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND !

This turned out to be a fabulous simple meal. The trattoria is rather hidden, up a staircase above a shop opposite the market in Modena. It doesn't take bookings for lunch, and even at 12:30 we were lucky to get a table. The food was simple trattoria fare, but faultlessly cooked at very good prices. Service was good and the buzzy atmosphere made for a great lunch. This is the type of restaurant that makes Italian cooking great, and I would return again and again if I lived near Modena. It is worth noting that it only takes cash or credit cards from Italian banks: non Italian cards do not work on its clearing system, so remember to have enough cash (which in our case was 67 Euros for a three course meal for two with half a litre of wine and coffee to finish)

Trattoria fantastica nel centro di Modena. Piatti tradizionali della cucina modenese, porzioni abbondanti e gustose. Ho adorato le lasagne e il filetto di maialino con aceto balsamico, più i vari contorni. E' facile trovare il locale pieno, data l'impossibilità di prenotare un tavolo a pranzo. Basta entrare e si verrà messi in lista di attesa lasciando un contatto telefonico. Da provare!
