Steak 'n Shake - Middletown

Enjoyed a delicious meal here along with some terrific shakes. The young lady who was ringing us up had some confusion regarding how to give us the Happy Hour discount (50% off shakes on weekdays, 2-5pm) but she eventually got it straightened out with her manager’s help. The food and shakes were the typically excellent quality we’ve come to expect from Steak n Shake. But this location serves the milkshakes in styrofoam cups, not in glasses. So it’s more of an “express” location than other Steak n Shakes with people waiting on tables and delivering your food on plates instead of being wrapped up in a paper bag.

Very disappointing. Although the burger itself was good, apparently they forgot it was supposed to have pickles, onions and ketchup on the burger. The packets of ketchup were put in the bag. We were dining in. We also asked for onion rings instead of fries and we were up charged which we were ok with, but then we were told they did not have any onion rings. We were able to get the up charged money back but had to ask for it. I don't understand why all of these issues happened but hope this was just a fluke issue and they resolved everything before any more customers.

I’m only giving a two star because of the food the food was good. And we drove up at four in the afternoon there was no vehicle is there anybody in the parking lot we could figure that out. Once being in there, The bathrooms were dirty the floors are sticky when you walked on it your feet with stick to it and partition/walls with fingerprints everywhere and after we decided that we were not getting waited on there was no waitresses or waiters so we had to go up and order our food and then go pick it up we didn’t know that as there was no sign saying that because the last time we were in there we had waitress or waiters. They did bring our food but it was in a to go bag there wasn’t any tray. But the worst part of the visit was we’re sitting there and they would lock the doors and I ask why did they lock the doors on us how we gonna get out and he said oh You can get out just nobody else can get in. I looked at him and ask him why he said because somebody was on break and there was nobody to man the station. So for 45 minutes we sat in the parking lot talking and the whole time even when we left the door hadn’t been opened and there was various numbers of cars come up and couldn’t get in to get service or food.

It has been a while since we entered Steak 'n Shake. The last time we were there, a wait staff has to take your order and deliver the food to your table when it is ready. We didn 't have a great experience back then so we would just order using the drive-thru.They have changed the inside now into a fast food place where you order your food and sit down anywhere. The service was fast and their burgers were great. We will go back more often here as I like their burgers better than the other fast food options in the area.

Decided to go to Steak n Shake for lunch. Ordered a chili dog combo. When I got home (2 mins away) this is my hotdog that was accompanied with cold fries and a flat coke.I immediately took the order back and asked for the manager and she greeted me with do you want a refund with no apology and had the nerve to tell me to have a blessed day.I will not spend another penny at this location. Check your food before you go!!!!
