Field And Forrest - Mid Sussex

I have had ice cream at many places over the years, so I don't consider that I am exaggerating when I say that this is genuinely the smallest and meanest scoop of ice cream I have ever purchased. It was less than half the amount of a normal scoop at the outrageous price of £2.50 (for the amount served). I am happy to pay that price for a fair sized scoop but not this mean portion. The ice cream itself was good and the staff very friendly. But I will not be returning any time soon. You only need to view the responses the owner gives to reviewers to see his poor attitude. Very disappointed.

I personally thought that the customer service was great, the 2 employees were very kind and had smiles on their faces. However, I was scammed by 80p due to the fact that they charged us £6.70 rather than £5.90. As we thought it was exorbitant ,we looked on field and forest website and it clearly stated £5.90. As well as being a scam the milkshakes tasted very milky. Hence fourth on my next trip to field and forest I will ask for an ice cream instead. But adding to that: the last time I went to field and forest their milkshakes were AMAZING!! No scams, amazing milkshakes and great customer service so I don’t know what the trip this time was about. I’m pretty sure it was a mistake as field and forest are normally a very good cafe.

The owner is consistently rude and grumpy, why he has gone into the customer service industry is a mystery. There are plenty of other friendly and welcoming cafes in the village, that serve better coffee and food, and frankly even if they were shut, I'd rather use the Costa coffee machine the Co-op than give this man my money.

This restaurant is clearly popular, as there was a queue for takeaway only when I visited. They offer a great selection of ice cream flavors, including vegan options which is a bonus. I really enjoyed my raspberry and sorrel sorbet, and my family liked their choices as well. The prices are a bit steep, but considering it's a permanent cafe and not just an ice cream van, it's not unexpected. Overall, a great experience.

We had a great experience at F&F today. They had a nice variety of drinks and ice cream, including vegan options, at affordable prices. The service was friendly and we can't wait to go back and try more ice cream flavors.
