A wonderful place, delicious cuisine A place full of charm Go to the eyes closed
Whether the inspiration is Japanese or Italian, the products are of quality and well cooked: a treat! Attention the prices are a little high.
We ended up here as all other options were fully booked...now we know why ... the fusion just doesn't work. Service was bad, the waitress was passing around just one menu for all tables to share, she wouldn't take our drinks order for ages and had a non courteous attitude. The outdoor setting is pretty but perhaps that's all this place has to offer.
We were so charmed by this place. We experienced difficulties getting reservations throughout our stay in Lyon and Burgundy. On our last full day, which turned out to be All Saints Day and thus a day where nearly EVERYTHING is closed, I tried in broken French from Nuits Sain Georges to Beaune to find a place for our last lunch. I nearly cried when the owner of the La Goutte D' Or not only answered the phone, but spoke English AND was able to accommodate us. That and some decent food would already have been something. However, when we arrived at the restaurant her level of service was impeccable. The wine list is extensive, with a wide variety of wines from all over France. Her knowledge of the wines characteristics and her level of wine service was notable. When we chose a natural wine, she ensured that we understood what we were getting ourselves into if we had not tried such a wine before and when we changed our minds, she did not bat an eye, even though our second choice was 50E less expensive... The wine we did choose was one of the best Puligny Montrachet that we had tried, a 2016 Hubert Lamy, Les Tremblots, Vielles Vignes, Saint Aubin. We chose the menu of the prix fixe menu of 3 courses. The food was simple, beautifully presented and delicious. The food, the wine and the service provided us with exactly what we came to Burgundy to find, an inspired conversation. I can't wait to return in the spring or summer when we might be able to enjoy the patio. Surprisingly, most of the tables had kids in tow, although from the first impression it seemed they wouldn't be encouraged. Our hosts were very gracious with the kids just as with the adults and thus, I am quite certain, the next generation of food and wine enthusiasts will find inspiration here too.
