Bidrage med feedbackCarolina's Mexican food has a longstanding reputation to make some of the best Mexican food in the southwest. It is a business that began as a dream of Manuel and Carolina Valenzuela in the 1950s. In the early years, the couple concentrated mainly on making homemade tortillas, burritos and deceaseds, selling them from the backseat of the family car at wrestling matches and migrants in the fields, always ensuring that the food was fresh and in the traditional way that their parents taught them. But from this lonely beginning, with much hard work, her dream became a reality. Manuel and Carolina opened their first restaurant in 105 W. Hilton, it was so small that two people holding hands could touch walls. The big opening was in the spring of 1968, they used their savings of $400, and Manuel's know-how in trade and beardering. Carolina's first tortilla staff was Elvira Castellanos de Abril, who was the one who taught Carolina all her cooking skills, and was also her mom. Elviras salary consisted of a few dollars for bingo, with a ride into the bingo hall in the American Legion Post #1, no contract had to be created, just a hug and a kiss.
Always the best tortillas.! Breakfast was cheese and chilli relleno with beans and rice. If you eat early in winter at the Country Club location, dress up warm:
I used Carolinas for my sons rehearsal dinners and it was a total hit! I was nervous first because it's super casual, but the whole experience was great! Jasmine was our extradition/implementary girl. She was punctual, polite and has everything perfectly decorated. All dishes, plates, cutlery and maintenance utensils were all good quality. And the food was amazing! I would just suggest that I had business cards or menus to my guests who always ask me where I ordered all this wonderful food. And the Churros were another hit! I'm going to small catering events from now on.
Being Mexican descent I consider myself a strict critic of Mexican food eating it at home. I don't give these five stars easy. The red sauce here was better than my family makes it home. All that has to do with the red sauce would be here for me. The price point to receive food and the way it tastes cannot also beat. This food feels like it was made at home with love only for you. Thank you, Carolina is for a really wonderful meal.
Really great food here. My doctors office is in the complex so I have been here a few times for lunch but forgot to leave a review. Hands down, some of the best tortillas I have ever had. The flautas are fantastic, that’s my go-to order here. They have tamales everyday and breakfast until 11am. I’m a tough critic but this spot is good enough to be added to your usual rotation. Try the flautas, you won’t regret it!
