China Town, Wimbledon Park - Merton

We really enjoyed the celebration of the Year of the Rat in Chinatown. Great parade with lots of dragons, fantastic dancers on stage, and good food to be had everywhere!

Visited here over the Chinese New year weekend, very very busy, great atmosphere thoroughly enjoyed our time here

I went here last night with my girlfriend and nephew. It was fairly busy, always a good sign. We were seated quickly and our order was taken by very friendly staff. I saw some previous reviews that said that the service was poor. This wasn't our experience at all. Food was very good and so was the service. In fact we walked out of a restaurant opposite because of the attitude of the waitress and very bright lighting. I would recommend this place. Cosy, good food, friendly staff. The doorman was especially friendly!

China town is beautiful during the night, the restaurants all offer delicious food but most of the waiting times are a bit long.

On our first visit to China town my 8 yr old granddaughter wanted a picture with Mickey Mouse. After taking the photo he then demanded money and would not leave us alone, in fear we offered him some change that we had in our purse but this was not good enough, he wanted a £10 note. We refused to give him any money and he became very aggressive by grunting very strange noises and leaning into us. A very scary experience, we will never visit China Town again because of this. I tried to track down a police officer but my grandaughter was so scared she just wanted to get on a bus and go home.
