The Wookey Hole Bistro - Mendip

We decided on a last-minute getaway and randomly booked a room at this establishment. It turned out to be a fantastic trip. We selected a package that included the room, breakfast, and tickets to the Wookey Hole Experience. The staff welcomed us warmly upon our arrival. Adding an evening meal to our reservation was simple, and the menu offered a good variety to cater to different tastes. The room was basic but cozy, with all the necessary amenities for a one-night stay. The highlight of our trip was using the Wookey Hole tickets the next day, which was a perfect way to end our spontaneous getaway. We will definitely be coming back here in the future.

Great value, super friendly staff and wonderful breakfast.

The food at this restaurant was very basic with limited options, especially for those seeking dairy-free choices. The staff seemed unsure of what dairy-free meant, offering sorbet as an alternative to ice cream but failing to mention that the brownie also contained dairy. We had to ask them to double check. Our room was located near the reception, which was noisy due to a wedding taking place at the hotel. Despite informing reception that we were not part of the wedding party when booking, we had two noisy nights with guests running and shouting in the corridors. The rooms were average, with the extra bed in our family room being small and uncomfortable with a worn-out mattress. The only positive aspect was the convenient location near Wookey Hole.

The food is delicious and reasonably priced. It was a pleasant experience to be served by polite and patient staff.

We stayed in the hotel on a Sunday evening, and there was limited option locally for an evening meal at this time. Portions were good, if not generous, both my partner and I ordered the burger with cave aged cheese. Unfortunately the cheese was burnt, and bacon and burger underneath completely dry, very unpleasant. Onion rings, and remaining meal was lovely, and we were offered a complimentary dessert to rectify the meal, which we appreciated. Our breakfast was perfect, good options, both continental breakfast and cooked, included in our stay.
