Bidrage med feedbackMy friends and I had breakfast at this restaurant on a Saturday in December. The full English breakfast was nice and affordable, but the portion size was small. We were surprised to learn that toast was extra, so we ordered a plate of slices. However, the toast came cold with no jam and very little butter. The service was average and when we received the bill, we were shocked to see that a surcharge had been added for the meat in the full English. The toast was not of good quality and we felt deceived by the high price. Additionally, a service fee was tacked on to the total bill. Overall, the service was decent, the food was okay, but we felt overcharged for what we received.
I have been dining at this restaurant for months and the food has been consistently high quality every time. The variety of dressings to choose from is great and they recently introduced new options. Despite a drastically reduced menu, the chef was still able to create delicious squid rings with a lovely chili sauce that I took home with me. I also tried a simple burger, which was surprisingly delicious. The service was excellent, I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.
We had booked an afternoon in the lounge with friends for a New Year's celebration, but upon arrival we found that the head waiter was confused as they were busy preparing for an evening function. Eventually, our booking was located in the system, but there was no table available for the four of us as requested. We were instead offered seating in the bar area at two separate tables for two, with the possibility of upgrading to a table for four if one became available in the crowded bar. As no such table became available, we pushed the tables together to be able to converse with our guests. The afternoon tea presentation was nice, but the savories were disappointing (cheese and pickle, turkey and cranberry, smoked salmon, and Greek sandwiches that were dry and not fresh). The cakes were tasty and plentiful, but the overall lack of preparedness took away from the experience. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this establishment.
We have booked a day after a week in advance, which was a gift for a special birthday contract. at the arrival the personal, where uninterested. hospital 0 the afternoon was very disappointing. the experience was definitely not a tasty bite.
Prior to this, we last visited this restaurant about years ago at that time it was very expensive but warm and welcoming, with a very buzzy atmosphere. We booked a meal for two on a Friday evening and when we arrived all was as...I had remembered it. It’s a wonderful building, full of old world charm. However, on entering the dining room, We wondered if they’d had a power cut, and were operating on emergency lighting. It was the darkest gloomiest room I have ever entered, and we were shown to a table in the dusk next to a window and it was frankly, freezing. There was no power cut, this is how someone had intended it to be, a more unwelcoming and dreary atmosphere would be hard to create even if you set out to do so. A room so wonderful cries out for candlelight and could look so beautiful but instead we could barely read the menus, the cheap LED mock candles were just ridiculous in the opulence of the surroundings, and the food when it arrived was universally grey in the gloom. It was such a shame because actually the food was very good, and looked good under the light of my iPhone, the staff were very friendly and attentive and the price is very reasonable. Dear Mr Bannatyne please have a word, as despite everything, this was not a pleasant experience and splashing out on a few candles, or better LED’s would make all the difference.
