Bidrage med feedbackThe restaurant has changed hands to an Asian fusion place from the original Capt Corelli. Great layout and bar but that's it. The menu is quite limited and has staple Chinese mostly with some other Asian dishes. Starters of spring rolls and steamed dumplings were ok. The sweet and sour pork was not too bad but the portion sizes were massive. Enough to feed four and there were only two of us. The Malaysian chicken curry was uneaten. Nothing Malay about it. Nasty stuff. When the highlights of the meal were the prawn crackers then you know the place has problems. One other thing. Asked the barkeep for a Manhattan cocktail. Blank look. Same with whiskey sour. If you are going to offer a fully stocked bar then at least have a barkeep who knows. There are better places in menai for Asian food.
We dined here with another couple who had been here previously. They had enjoyed the food on their previous visit but had said the service was really slow. Still we were keen to try this new addition to dining in Menai. Oh dear, what a disappointment! The waitress was pleasant but had not been properly trained - "Yup" is not the sound to make when taking orders!! Either repeat the dish the customer orders or say something like "Very nice" but not "Yup"! And when handing out the cutlery, don't leave your fingerprints on the them. It's unhygienic. Then there was the food. Three of us ordered the Whitebait Fritters and three of us couldn't eat them - oily, doughy batter, tasteless. Not a good start. The fourth had Garlic Prawns - it was an unusual recipe & again tasteless. The mains were no better. The Crispy Skin Fish is served in a broth on a bed of mussels, some of which actually had a mussel in them. As soon as the fish had contact with the broth it went to mush. And the best thing our friend could say about the Wagyu beef was that it was edible. We were not charged for the uneaten entries & the floor manager did apologise. This restaurant needs a lot of work - staff training and new recipes would be a good start. There are much better places to eat at Menai.
Visited 24 Jan for dinner. Our first time and we were impressed with restraunt. We had the share mezzes plate which was good. I have had better zucchinie flowers but still nice. Onto mains and fish was good , my husband likes to get a decent portion and he was happy with the size. Twice cooked duck was lovely as well. The service was happy and attentive and meals arrived in good time.
Visited this resraurant on Sat 22/01/2017 to celebrate my son-in-law's birthday with family. After discussing my choice of main meal with a rather inattentive young waitress,I didn't receive it, and after apologising and offering to not charge for it,I decided I could no longer eat it,as everyone else had finished their meals. It was given to us in a takeaway container and not charged for. Big deal! Too little , too late!! Evening ruined !! I will not be returning to this establishment !!
This restaurant was so unexpected for a club restaurant. Modern decor wit very efficient and friendly staff and the food was devine. I have the twice cooked duck and was very impressed. Would highly recommend this restaurant!
