Meat Market - Melbourne

Good restaurant with good food and friendly staff. We had many dishes to share for our group, all were very good without any standout dishes. Staff was friendly

We booked this for NYE dinner as our other booking was cancelled due to a covid case visiting their venue thus forcing a shut down. At almost $400 for with drinks ....bit unfair my partner doesn't drink but one in all in policy applied and this was also the only way to get seated outside. First course arrived good start bread with cured meat, pickles, a terrine and other items. Next course was called a gaspacho and was 4 very thin slices of avocado in a cucumber, bell pepper, lime flavoured sauce. Next was kingfish seemed raw with a similar sauce on what I could only call a prawn cracker similar to a Chinese takeaway. Service was disorganised and slow and even tho we were one of the first to arrive and receive first course we were one of the last for Mains, which was steak now here I may get flack but each to their own I like hot chilli many don't and I don't like raw meat. What was served for two was one 200- 250gm maybe of meat seared only and red raw in the centre, no one was asked how they liked it so I had the vegetables which were good, my partner couldn't eat all the steak as it was way too raw, other tables who liked it that way requested more as the portion size was miserable, desert arrived and again was dosed in a sour sauce and the flan pastry was so thick the only edible item was the half passionfruit which was sweet compared to the flan. So bad was this we left at 10.50 pm and I went and had Subway. Would never recommend or attend this venue again food quantity, quality and price was way over the top and no way could I ever justify what we were charged and served

Thanks to the team at Meat Market for an amazing lunch. The food was really delicious, varied and there was lots of it. The staff were also fantastic despite all the pressure of a full house. They never stopped smiling. We were visiting from QLD and you all made our Christmas Day in Melbourne one to remember. Thank you.

Picked this for dinner and weren’t disappointed. Staff a bit slow initially... but the food made up for it... plenty of menu choices and waiting was good... will be back
