Do not go here. As we entered, there was no reception or anything. We wanted to sit at the booths which had more comfortable seats but the server tried to convince us to sit at the tiny tables with hard chairs!!! Even thought the restaurant was mostly empty!!! Then after we ordered, we waited so long that my brother even had time to take a nap. There was even a delivery person who was waiting for ages at the door. Finally our food arrived pondicherry dosa 17.95) and not only was it so expensive compared to other places, it was so hard to eat. It was the thinnest dosa my mum had ever seen in her 50 years of life. And every time she tried to tear a piece, everything crumbled into powder. The red chutney had such a strong and strange taste. We ordered rasmalai $6.95) which was not rasmalai, but the baby of rasmalai, even smaller than bite sized. And it tasted like someone was trying to make world's smallest rasgulla. For $25, a very unsatisfying meal. And trust me, they didn't even have idli options!!!! Except for maybe 2 dishes but I'm not too sure. Definitely go to Carrum Downs instead.
When I think of Indian food in Melbourne, I usually think of Dosa Hut, with so many stores around Melbourne they’re bound to satisfy your Indian food cravings! We tried the: Cheese Masala Dosa $16.5 Crispy Goat $18.95 Butter Chicken $18.95 MLA Keema Pulao (with omelette) $14.95 Biryani $17.95 Garlic Rotis $3.50 Samosa Chaat $14.95 Choc Lava Cake $7.95 Red Velvet Slice $7.95 Mango Lassi $3.95 Absolutely loved our meal here, the food was so hearty and flavourful. The dosa was so crispy, the samosa had a nice balance of flavours with sweet, salty and spicy. The paneer biryani also had great flavours and this was probably our favourite dish. The crispy goat was a little too salty and the roti was a bit oily but otherwise everything was your standard Indian dishes The cakes were really moist, and quite dense, especially the red velvet slice which we loved and ended the night on a good note. The staff were really friendly and patient and the food came really fast!
Dosa Hut offers authentic Indian street food They have a wide menu offering delicious Indian dishes made with high quality ingredients, traditional beverages, and desserts You can choose to dine in or take away
Let 's talk about the good stuff, the chicken Chow mein was tasty. The girls there did their best in helping to recommend our next dish and I settled for the Hyderabad Dum Briyani (Chicken) but I think the girls working there are new as one of them got a male server to complete my order instead. I specifically told him that I wanted the authentic taste and not the one made for 'local ' taste. The Briyani that I received was dry and tasteless, when I told the gentleman that it has little to no taste he said that 's how it is without a care to listen let alone improve. After the meal we really felt like some chai but most peculiarly, were told that the chai was sold out. So the missus went next door to buy two little cuttings from Delhi Rocks but was not allowed back in because we didn 't order the very thing that they ran out of. We were going to order panee puri with the chai but this place is so insecure it not only lost our future business but also our respect. The table next to us was equally shocked at this behaviour. If you in this area just go to Delhi Rocks right next door, the chai is free flow if you dine there and the food is authentic.
