Oriental Cottage Cafe - Melaka

The geographer cafe is a beautiful place with a historical atmosphere. the staff was very friendly. there are several vegetarian dishes on the menu (both western and Asian) and we have asked about vegan options. during the waiter did not know what vegan meant, he explained us all the options after we specified. that was very helpful and welcoming. we both chose the geographer curry that wasn't our favorite (it just didn't taste well), but it was fresh and filled. there are about four or five more vegan dishes, including vegetarian laksa. I think it's best to make your vegan needs, but just to make sure. the next day we wanted to try a dish, but they are closed on Wednesday so we were not in the position. all in all, it is a great place to visit, but perhaps not expect too much of the food, although we have only tried a dish and others might be better. visited in juli 2022

Drinks here are great and also the atmosphere. is super busy here at night. eating was average and not much vegan options. would not be for dinner again, but for the cocktails!

We came here yesterday and had the Nasi-Lemak without a hurry. it was tasty, not too special, but a beautiful filling ground. we also had the veggie satay, the satay was good, but the aftertaste of the sauce was as hard as meat. so we didn't finish the soss (also the sose tasted like rendang maybe they don't use the same sosse whether it's on the menu.) I just saw that they had tempobälle with spaghetti after we had ordered, so we came back today (also because of previous reviews) when I checked whether there was no cheese in it and not a cold, checked the waiter. he must have forgotten to ask the egg, because a few minutes later he told me that the eggs contain a small egg. I switched my order to the Nasi-Lemak (again,) my bf had the curry with tempo. the curry was pretty good. so make sure to specify vegan here! the service was great, although the word vegan did not ring bells that I think. the waiter took my question seriously, so good service! and I loved the open door seats here. beautiful ambiente! I would still recommend it. oh, and they have an extensive drink menu! bf was really happy with the designs beer!

Had the nasi impian (spinach fried rice with monkey head mushroom satay) and curry Q tempeh. Tempeh was so-so but the fried rice was really fragrant and good although a tad oily. Nice ambiance and good selection of veg options at a touristy area! Was pleasantly surprised at the number of options.

Food was okay, but not better than other places like twice as expensive .. They do have a nice seating area music, so I guess you pay for that too
