Holiday Inn Express Harrisburg Sw Mechanicsburg, An Ihg

Found myself in the region an an unscheduled business trip. Googled hotels in the area and read reviews.The first six hotels I tried had no rooms for a week.The Holiday Inn Express was not on my preferred list. I've stayed at others and had no issues, but the reviews for this hotel were not very favorable.And, in my opinion, WRONG.I have nothing bad to say about my stay here. The room was clean and without malodor. The hotel was busy for the weekend due to a soccer tournament. They opened early for weekend breakfast to be accommodating. Exterior was kept clean even as folks partied by the pool and didn't clean up after themselves.The room was cleaned up everyday by housekeeping, which is rare for hotels today.The staff, especially Binita at the front desk, was simply wonderful. She always had a nice, bright smile that could light the entire hotel up.Work will without a doubt bring me to this area again in the future. Rather than a last choice, this hotel will be my preferred.

Hotel rooms need updated and renovated. Outside pool was clean and refreshing. Outside grounds were kept clean...no trash laying around. Breakfast choices were good. Overall a great stay!!????Rooms: 3/5

An exceptionally average hotel in relatively close proximity to Hersheypark. Not the best holiday inn I have ever visited, but not the worst hotel I have ever stayed at by any means either. The rooms were clean albeit a bit outdated, the staff was friendly, and there are some decent places to eat nearby. I would recommend staying here if you want a decent priced hotel to stay at, but this place could benefit from some updates.Rooms: Rooms were clean, but outdated. Could benefit from some renovations.Nearby activities: Hersheypark is relatively close to this location.

Not sure why, but the hotels we normally stay in when visiting had really high prices the week we were there, but this hotel did not.I've stayed at plenty of Holiday Inn Express, and was always pleasantly surprised. However, this one met my not so high expectations. Most of it was probably not the hotel's fault. A large group of smokers greeted us at the front entrance. Someone was smoking pot down the hall from us.The room had some maintenance issues but the bed was comfy and the AC worked as expected. The breakfast was fine. For the price, I guess it was ok.

Checked in on a Friday and checked out Sunday, in town for a bowling tournament. The location overall was okay, it is located on a strip where you can find many restaurants, stores, etc. but from our room (4th floor) we did not hear any traffic so it was actually very quiet. We did not get to use the outdoor pool due to the rain and when it wasn’t raining, it did not coordinate with the timing of our events to be around and enjoy the pool. We did see other people enjoying it while it was sunny..the pool is not that big but I am sure it does the job if you need to cool down. We did see a patio area with tables/chairs and umbrellas that seemed pretty nice.Upon walking through the entrance, we noticed a musty odor, like when carpet is wet but in the lobby itself, we did not smell it anymore. The front desk staff were very nice and welcoming, no issues for us checking in or out. Our room was a bit musty and needed to be aired out but once that happened, we were good to go. The beds were comfortable and the space in the room was good for the 3 of us (we had double beds). We did notice some garbage under one of the beds (empty soda bottles). The amenities in the room included a small TV, mini fridge, microwave, and Keurig machine. One thing we noticed was the door to our room had a metal stopper (left side of the door frame, above the lock) which was falling apart.Free breakfast in the morning offered bagels, pastries, yogurt, fruit, oatmeal, cold cereals, pancake maker, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, coffee and juices. The breakfast area was well stocked and very clean. I wish I had gotten the names of the two ladies working the breakfast area- they were super nice and friendly, attentive and were on top of the area being clean and stocked.One last thing we noticed was that on Saturday, the case with the fire extinguisher inside of it on our floor had been broken and it wasn’t the night before.Overall, our stay was not bad, just a few things here and there that most likely were out of their control or not known by the staff but very fixable.
