Platzl Cafe-Restaurant - Mauern

We stayed here for dinner on the recommendation of our hosts this night and were not disappointed. The pizza oven was out of order this night, but we liked the food we ordered, grill plates, pasta and other things. The prices are good, the service was on the... slow side, but it was a busy night.

A warm and friendly restaurant /bar frequented by locals with all the standard fare which is good but not great. The service is first rate, attentive without being intrusive and efficient. The presentation is okay and the food although generous is middle of the road....Bier/beer predominates the beverage selection but the house red is good.

Friendly atmosphere although the best of the restaurant is still for the smokers and entering goes through that area: really inconvenient! The food is standard, a bit fatty, otherwise OK.

Than we expected ! ... the place to be in Steinach am Brenner for some typical local and authentic Austrian Tirol kitchen. We arrived with 12 hungry people on a Saturday evening and were friendly placed in the backside of the restaurant with an...easy but cosy typical Tirol atmosphere. The stuff was very friendly and flexible, drinks and food were served quick and always on time. We all had different choices of food, served well, fresh of tasteful quality! We can recommend the Wiener Schnitzel , Gemischter Salat and the Kaiserschmarrn for desert. Prices were all absolutely reasonable. Thanx for a great last evening from our Tuscany trip back home to Hannover!

Was actually looking for another place when passed by Platzl a few times. It didn 't look inviting from the outside. The first room entering is nice all though people are allowed to smoke. Next room looks more like a bar but then there is a...third room A non smoking room! Very nice Austrian style with only a few people. We all ordered different kind of Schnitzel and it was all delivered within 10min after ordering. The Wiener Schnitzel is on the large size even kids schnitzel was huge for a 6 year old. All tasted good, great beers too.
