Yen for Viet - Marrickville

In the famous Marrickville cheap eats strip on Illawarra Road (though not as cheap as it used to be) you'll find Nguyen Brothers Marrickville (many listings still call it Yen for Viet, but they're the same place). Good Vietnamese meals and particularly two good fish dishes I'd recommend - the whole fried fish and the fish hot pot. Great for a cold night and for vegaquarians or pescetarians.

Many ,many options so hard to decide what to eat. A mix of flavours some overpowering though. The restaurant was full and seemed to have a good flow. The service was quick and polite although few items were missed from our orders . They had a very good knowledge of their menu too. We had many dishes as there were a lot of us. All the meals were delicious especially the duck. The average bill was about $26 per person so not to shabby

Love this place I got to practice my very limited Vietnamese dining language skills with a waiter working on his English language skills all up good fun and sincere Vietnamese fare. I had the pork hot pot cooked in a mini clay pot my dining guest enjoyed their seafood meal and said it was too huge to finish.The packed restaurant of diners looked 50/50 Vietnamese and other diners so good mix and sound indicator of their popularity . Vegetarian & GF options available

There is a long line of Vietnamese restaurants on this strip. One in particular is always booked out. It is a new darling but when you cant get in there, head straight for Yen for Viet. Although it has been here for 4 or 5 years it is still really good. The wine list is very reasonably priced with wine by the bottle and glass . The food is also reasonably priced with stirfries, curries and salads. I had a caramelized pork belly dish and a chicken coconut based dish with black fungus and rice paddy herbs. Also a bowl of wok seared greens. The place was full as it usually is. Well worth a visit. Still one of the best even with the large choice of other places. 3 dishes and two glasses of wine $60.0

Good place to experience viet flavoursStaff could be slow but food is delicious.Plenty if flavours.Not too cheap but if you wanna try good viet flavours,this is a great place.Vietnamese pancakes,pho soups,lemongrass chicken,seafood and noodles are just amazingly delicious.This is one of the best viet places.Enjoy!
