The Garden Basket - Markham

There are very few things here that are priced competitively with the adjust No Frills. Fresh produce, and sweet fruit may be the only attractive qualities, otherwise pricing is really poor. I've been around long enough to remember that this store used to be called Sunkist.

Do NOT shop here. I bought two chickens. Upon opening they were clearly bad. When I inquired at customer service I was told “next time” bring the whole rotten chicken in. There will not be a next time for me. It’s my closest local grocery store, but I will not be back. ?

Went to buy a prepared meal. It was the worst I've ever had. The fries were cold and hard so were the vegetables. The broccoli was like chewing bark. The chicken was dry and small. For $60 I expect more. You shouldn't keep your food under the heat lamp that long.

There is something odd about the meat they sell, especially chicken. Bought marinated chicken once and found fur on it. Also the chicken had a typical bad smell. I did not eat it but threw away. This happened in March 2023. I thought it was an exceptional case. Bought 800g+ chicken two days ago. (May 12th 2023). I fried it today and while eating I got the same typical bad smell which I felt last time and then vomited everything I ate. I am typing this review right after vomiting. Please be careful guys.I dont have complaints about anything else they sell or about the customer service.

Best food quality and service in the area. Some things are a little over priced, but worth the quality. They have good specials every week. Much prefer shopping here than anywhere else.
