Bidrage med feedbackA refreshing, pleasant change from all Mexican foods we have enjoyed so far. the steaks are with the best grilled houses found everywhere on the square. They grill the meat on an open grilling pit on the terrace outside. the atmosphere is modern and elegant, with. outside and inside, with view of its garden. they have a plentiful bar and a playground for children. again
I loved my meal at angus! the food was so delicious and the waiters were so nice. they insisted on calling us a taxi when we were done and they always checked for us to make sure we enjoy our meal. I would. there is an extensive menu, so there are many, many more dishes I would like to try. my friend also loved her meal! I recommend it! take a taxi from the inner city of guanajuato to marfil and they are right there! I also agree with another person who has written an assessment here that it is a beautiful break from traditional Mexican foods!
We are full-time expat in mexiko with a home in guanajuato, so we know the restaurant scene here well. if they can enjoy a total change from the standard Mexican tariff, this place is for them. the tempting. the owner is a long-term restaurant owner here and he knows well how to deliver a quality product with excellent, welcoming service. the variety of grilled meat is excellent. friendly bar with excellent selection of beer, weep and cocktails. empañadas are exceptional starters. the location is in marfil, away from centro. there are parking, bus service or a 50p taxi.
As foreigner who has consistently visited the Guanajuato capital in the last 14 years, I must admit that I have always found the food options something missing. until recently, the tourism and the kitchen have mainly to the ubiquitous university students who prefer a cheap cold beer than a delicious hot meal, or the hearts of medium-sized tourist who flood the city into driving and are looking to economic their stay. it seemed that guanajuato restaurant owners were busy for many years only with a thing: selling under average food in large quantities at the lowest common nenners. the quality or originality of the food seemed always secondary, with some remarkable exceptions. Please note that I really love the Mexican cuisine of all regions, sort and price classes, and more often than not, the cheaper food, the better! since I really enjoy Mexican street food and traditional fondas or comida corrida. whenever I was looking for a real restaurant in guanajuato, I found myself disappointed again and again. restaurants were either not very creatiw with their menus, or if they were ambitious, the direction was bad, or the service was simply terrible. or all up! but recently has begun to improve the culinary landscape in guanajuato, and angus is a great example for a restaurant with high quality food to reasonable trips with excellent service. guanajuato, in contrast to his neighbours silao and leon, was never recognized for his cuts of meat. I often avoid ordering steak in guanajuato because I am too often disappointed with gum-like chewing toys. but as the name of the restaurant implies, angus specializes in big steak and I can recommend quite the Cowboy steak or the Angus steak covered with caper sauce. but if they are not a carnivore, no worries, I would also highly recommend their salads and pastas and there is one above all that comes with laughs that my wife absolutely thrilled. our children loved their hamburger and the child-friendly menu. there is also a lot of pizzas and I would recommend the delicious tropical with the garnels. the best angus is that they get exactly what they have ordered. (and unfortunately they can not really say that about any restaurant in guanajuato. the food is ready to order and is served hot (or correspondingly cold, depending on the dish. the presentation is very professional and always appetizing. and the service is attentive, friendly and generous. that is a restaurant where I have no problem leaving a 15% tipp because they really deserved it. the ambiente is very pleasant, well furnished and there is an outdoor terrace if you prefer the fresh air. there are also plenty of parking places that are very rare in guanajuato. overall this is one of the best bets in guanajuato. they cannot beat the quality of international tariff and professional service for the very cheap price! If you are in Guanajuato, there is one thing you need to know: you cannot find a decent burger. Various places sell them, but whether it 's the gourmet burgers at Crustaceo Cascarudo (see my review) or the incredibly over rated carbon burgers near La Comercial La...Mega downtown, you 're in for some proper disappointment if you are used to a good tasty burger. As a point of reference, the best burger i ever had was in New York (i forget the name of the place, sorry) and if you 've had burgers up north in Chihuahua then you 're already in a different realm compared to what people are used to down here. Here in Guanajuato the food is overall pretty poor compared to up north, and they simply have no clue when it comes to making burgers. So, having tried most burger places in town in search of some burger satisfaction (in vain), i decided to lash out on a supremely expensive burger in a place with a name that suggest great meat. Angus Brangus is located out of the center, around Marfil, and the location is very nice. They have their own parking lot, which is exceptional in Guanajuato, and they have an outside terrace which is extremely pleasant when the weather allows (which is pretty much all year round, let 's face it, this is the tropics after all). Inside, you are dealing with an American chain like place with wooden floors, very American decoration, a big flat screen showing MTV or American sports... They put a lot of effort into the lighting, which is also exceptional in Guanajuato, where most restaurants use cold white office type light instead of warm lightbulbs. So i 'd rate the place itself with 4 or 5 out of 5, it 's pleasant and has a very good atmosphere. Unfortunately, that 's where the pros end. When i sat down i asked the waiter if the meat in the burgers was frozen or fresh. He adamantly assured me that it was fresh minced meat and not frozen. Good! Because for 100 110 pesos for a burger fries, it would have been scandalous any other way. Bear in mind that if you are paying more than 40 pesos for a cheeseburger fries you are not getting a very good deal unless the quality is above average. When the fries arrived i immediately noticed that some were undercooked and possibly even raw inside. If you 're a cook, or a waiter, you should see that immediately too, and pop them back in the friar. What 's the point of serving uncooked food to save 1 or 2 minutes ? They were evidently frozen fries of the most basic cheapest sort and were not adequately cooked, the oil in the firer was probably not hot enough and they just didn 't taste good. I 've had much better fries for much less elsewhere. Any worse than that I wouldn 't even have eaten them. The burger is neither big nor small i went for the house speciality with bacon, btw. It has one small slice of bacon, that covered approximately 1/3 of the burger 's surface, so let 's say that it was a bit on the small side of things, and it was undercooked, not crisp at all. It added a nice touch of flavor to an otherwise bland burger, though, so i 'm glad i went with that option. It was overall the only pleasant flavor of my meal that evening. The burger meat had perfectly square edges and was very watery/oily inside: the waiter is a blatant liar, the meat was evidently frozen and tasted remarkably like the burgers from Costco! Costco, incidentally, offer a Sirloin and an Arrachera (better than Sirloin, supposedly) type burger...exactly as this restaurant does... And both of these burgers come with square edges and taste like Costco 's burgers...i 'll let you do the math. So, for 2.5 times the normal price, what do you get ? A nicer place to sit in and a parking space. If you choose your food based on that sort of criteria then you will love Angus Brangus! The owners certainly seem to think there is a market for that sort of customer and that food quality is irrelevant, and why not? Sometimes we just want a nice relaxing place to eat and that 's it. At least now you know where to go. Now for the drinks : the beers are horrendously expensive, at 35 40 pesos a bottle. Bear in mind the normal price in a restaurant in Mexico ranges from 15 pesos to 25 pesos, 20 being a pretty normal average. Personally i refuse to pay over 25 pesos for any type of drink, and all the more so when i 'm already paying through the nose for the food. Your best bet is the jar of lemonade, for 75 pesos, which will give you 5 or 6 glasses, and that at least is made in house and good. The place was empty except for my table, and now you know why. To offer average quality at luxury prices is quite purely simply taking the p*ss: not acceptable in my opinion, and they are clearly reaping the consequences of their disrespect for their customers. Over charging is one thing, lying to your customers ' faces is another. If you 're so ashamed of the food you serve that you have to lie about it then, quite frankly, you 're a disgrace to the profession. Maybe they thought they could cash in on the location whilst offering the cheapest frozen food, as so many tourist traps do on the plazas of touristic city centers, I honestly don 't what the thinking behind this was. It 's always sad when a restaurant closes its doors, and i mean that very sincerely as i know exactly what i am talking about. But these guys? Something tells me nobody will miss them.
