Bidrage med feedback4/5, chips slightly overcooked over salted. The Gurnard was incredible however, worth paying extra for, even though it was half the size of the more common snapper.
Perhaps the best fish and chips I've tried and a definite highlight of our trip in NZ. The only caveat is that eating with your fingers won't be to everyone's tastes!
Possibly the best fish and chips in the world! Absolutely delicious. Well worth a wait and a drive.
Best fish and chips! We had the blue cod, chips and squid rings. All were fantastic. Sat next door at Rimu wine bar to eat the fish and chips and enjoy a wine tree : Greag systems at the Smokehouse and you can easily see the wait time, so, you know when to come back from exploring the lovely views and shops nearby
I grew up in a fish and chip shop so I know my stuff, and The Smokehouse Café is great. We had the basic deep sea cod and kumara chips and they were all done to perfection AND there is malt vinegar on the tables. The only minor miss is the spring roll pastry was overly thick, but overall I was quite impressed.
