Dom Pastor - Manteigas

Had a beautiful meal, on a beautiful terrace at the river. we were very welcome to the very friendly staff/owners who spoke perfectly English! the black fag and the patatas fritas with sausage was divine! highly recommended.

We saw this place in the Rough Guide. We ordered a mixed salad, some olives, some bread, and some lemon juice The salad came without dressing (as did the bread). We asked if we could have some oil and vinegar with it (which comes without...asking and free of charge in the rest of Portugal and many countries in my experience). The salad was ok, but absolutely nothing special and a small portion. The bread was not fresh (probably yesterday's), and the olives were from a can. The lemon juice was water with maybe or lemons squeezed into it (priced at euros). To our surprise, we were charged euros for the oil and vinegar (it was given to use without notifying us of any additional cost). We ended up being charged euros for a very light and not so great lunch for a price that it outrageous in this country and it's easily possible to have a good dinner for for this price. All together it seems like a place which has been made too popular in a guide, after which it has started hiking its prices massively without improving any of its service (except for waiters in uniform and cutlery that comes in triples per dish). I hope this success is short-lived because it's honestly not worth a visit when in this amazing (food-)country

At least food and service were very nice but it is really a bit overpriced for Portugal. But they were very welcoming and helpful, recommending the local food and explaining everything for us as they have no english menue. Inside it is very nice...and chilled, even if it is warm outside.

What a beautiful surprise this place after some very bad meals in manteigas. great service combined with an interesting menu that presents local dishes with a modern twist and all delicious. our second visit was easily pampered by a couple who smoked the next table, something that seems out of place today!

We had two salads, cheese, wine, water, coffee for less than euro. we did not find this lunch expensive. we found lunch, especially the salads very well made and delicious. better than we elsewhere. Great location, especially when they sit outside....Recommended!
