Bidrage med feedbackHaving recently dined at the Water 's Edge Restaurant in Manitou, I feel it 's only fair to share our experience, which unfortunately was disappointing in certain aspects. We had heard much about this restaurant, and thus we had been looking forward to a pleasant dining experience. We started our culinary journey with their Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce. An Italian classic, it should be simple to execute, but unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. The issue rested largely with the tomato sauce it was overwhelmingly strong, to the point of being intolerable. Rather than providing a balanced, fresh backdrop to the pasta, the sauce was aggressive and harshly seasoned. The piquancy was jarringly high, leading to a taste experience more akin to consuming raw spices than a carefully composed sauce. The bitterness was another aspect that stood out like a sore thumb there was an extremely bitter undertone that lingered long after each bite. The normally fragrant herbs of basil and oregano seemed to be used with an exceptionally heavy hand, overshadowing all other flavours. It felt as if we were consuming oregano oil, a potent medicinal agent, instead of a pleasant herb infused tomato sauce. This unbalanced and overly robust sauce essentially overpowered the spaghetti, turning what should have been a comforting, familiar dish into an unwelcome adventure for our tastebuds. A well made tomato sauce should sing harmoniously with the pasta, but in this case, it was more of a one note, off key solo that left us wishing for a more measured and balanced culinary performance. It was disheartening that both my wife and I found it inedible. However, credit where credit is due, the staff promptly accommodated our request to replace the dish without any fuss. We were served Veggie Burgers in place of the spaghetti. While the veggie burger was a step up and palatable, it could best be described as 'plain. ' There wasn 't any particular flavor or ingredient that stood out to make it memorable or unique. Despite our subpar dining experience, we did appreciate the staff 's readiness to address our concerns, which showed their commitment to customer satisfaction. It would have been a far more enjoyable evening if the food had lived up to the service. In closing, the Water 's Edge Restaurant seems to be a place with potential but needs to take a hard look at some of its culinary offerings. I would be hesitant to recommend it for now, especially for the spaghetti, but I do hope they make the necessary improvements to the menu for future diners. After all, good service is vital, but it 's ultimately the food that brings people back to a restaurant.
Three of us went here for lunch on Sunday July 9, 2023. I had the liver and onions from the light menu, and it was the best I have ever had. My wife had the eggs Benedict and she enjoyed it also. Friendly service. It was a little slow getting our food, but it was busy and worth waiting for.
Had the pleasure of dining in early May- shortly after the reopen of the season. Staff were just getting accustomed to everything so while the service was not fast it more than made up for it with they're friendliness and the food, which was absolutely fantastic. Prices are what you can expect not cheap but very reasonable and so tasty. If you're lucky enough to sit at a window table enjoy the beautiful view. I personally can't wait to return.
Excellent meal and excellent entertainment by the waiters! Buttered Chicken and all other meals were great with a great view of Manitou Lake.
Was here for a retreat and we had brunch and dinner for three days, the food was decent and the serving staff was excellent! The fries were perfectly crispy and the deserts are huge!
