Out of towners... stopped in based on the reviews here. Appetizer, main courses, and dessert all excellent. We started with the bacon-wrapped dates. I had the scallop ravioli, my wife had the short rib, and we finished with a lemon tart for dessert. All were very nicely done, and our server Chelsea was great. We will be back... Food was generally pretty good but at 7:00pm they were out of duck, the only poultry on the menus. The shock came when we got the bill. We were charged a $10 corkage fee for a bottle of wine we bought off the wine list. When I questioned why we were charged to open a bottle of THEIR wine, we got some convoluted answer about how the corkage fee would have been $25 if we had brought our own wine. I worked in restaurants through school and corkage fees are to offset the costs associated with serving a bottle you bring to the restaurant. We spent $168 for a dinner for two and did not expect to be gouged another $10.00 fee which is NOT disclosed on the menu. I appreciate that the triple hit of the short ski season, the collapse of the trout hatcheries and the pandemic have impacted Mammoth, but if there ever is a next time (unlikely), I 'll bring my own corkscrew and open my own bottle.

This is the 2nd time I've eaten here. The 1st time last year I got food to go from the deli. It was so so. We decided to give it another try this year. Unfortunately that was a mistake given that this was my birthday. My scallops (with ravioli) were beyond horrible, completely inedible due to extreme over salting and over garlicing. Unreal that these cooks can't make simple food. They also cut them unevently and overcooked them. AND they ruined my husband's steak by extremely overcooking and over salting. Absolutely ridiculous. Waste of a special moment, time and money. As a result we did not stay for desert. Definitely not returning.
