Bidrage med feedbackIf you're in Mahabalipuram, don't miss out on this place. However, I must warn you that it caters mainly to fans of seafood. Be sure to try their signature dish, the fish masala.
I had a wonderful afternoon at Siesta, all thanks to one person - Muthu, the waiter and chef all in one. His smile, enthusiasm, and humble demeanor, combined with the delicious food he served, put me and my group at total ease...to total relaxation. We enjoyed it so much that we went back for dinner. I highly recommend the Fried Calamari and Butter Garlic Prawns. The Calamari is absolutely delicious, especially when paired with beer, friends, and the ocean breeze. While Siesta is a Spanish restaurant, I suggest sticking to the traditional seaside dishes. I tried the Potato Bravas and Seafood Paella as per recommendations, but found them to be just okay. The Potato Bravas is similar to fried potatoes or wedges, and the Paella is like a biryani with calamari, prawns, and fish, with a different type of rounder rice. The portion size is large and can easily feed 3 adults. On our second visit, I opted for Muthu's recommendation - Tamarind Fish Curry with rice, which was delicious. Keep up the great work, Muthu, and I hope to visit Siesta again soon!
The food we had at this restaurant was decent. The prawns in coriander and garlic butter sauce were well-prepared, but the fish was not cleaned properly. The soup was average. We didn't feel inclined to try anything else on the menu, but the prices were reasonable for the quality. Overall, it was satisfactory.
Fantastic restaurant, with unusual options, which is very appreciated after the monotony of the food in tourist places. Loved the breezy rooftop and the gentle service, Murugan was always happy to cater to our special requests -as we traveled with two small children. Definitively recommended!!! Try the paella, and the wonderful sangria.
