I was excited to hear this new place had opened up in Ave K. I love Korean food and am always happy to welcome a new Korean option to my daily lunch options at work. With so many new restaurants opening up in Ave K these days things are hit or miss and I decided to try it as soon as I could. I must have been there on their first week because there was typical new place in KL during lunch hour mayhem. It was a little frustrating getting a table with the crowd and a staff that clearly had no experience. That can really be a turn off for me because time is such a factor during the brief lunch hour. So, I was happy to see them offering menus and easy to mark order forms while people were waiting. We had our food really quick after we sat down. Half the menu is traditional Korean options plus another half of the menu is fusion choices like bulgogi tacos and KimChi pasta. I tried one traditional kimchi and tofu stew, plus the bulgogi tacos and a small order of steamed dumplings as an appetizer. All to share with a friend. The stew was great. Lots of delicious tofu, glass noodles and cabbage soaked up the flavors of the kimchi in the stew. The tacos and dumpling however, were not as good. The shell of the taco was VERY stale and the dumpling tasted like they were only half cooked. The beef in the tacos and the dumpling filling was good but nothing spectacular. If I go to B*Bap again I think I will stick to the traditional menu options.
Korean food makes me a foodie!! I absolutely love it and I never tire of trying it out! I have been to this place back when I just got to KL and I honestly can't remember what I ordered at the time, but I do know what I'll be ordering next and so should you! Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap Bulgogi Beef, so so good and heard so much about it! The staff are super friendly and awesome! I can't wait to go back there again! they are super welcoming of foreigners, very lovely to see that!
I would give B.Bap a 4 star out of 5. It is not easy to find really decent Korean food in town (unless you go to Korean town in Ampang), but I do see it in B.Bap. I love their food selection and how it is served and taste is really yummy as well. Firstly I like their open space in Avenue K branch. It is somehow more breathable than the one in Nu Sentral. Service is great and their food of course is very tasty. I like their original Bibimbap which is combination of rice, vegetables and meat depending on your choice (chicken for RM16, beef for RM17, squid for RM17, veggie tofu form RM16) put together in a stone pot where it will stay hot and warm for quite some time. You will also get their complimentary side like kimchi, cucumber, and ikan bilis which is my favourite! You can keep refilling your sides for free, just like how Korean restaurant mostly done it. Do try out their kimbap, which is Korean version of sushi, the Su Jae Bi (handmade noodles cooked with clear soup), and the favourite Yang Nyeom Chicken which is a fried chicken stir fried with chilli paste. Definitely a must-try!
With the power of K-pop, I present you another Korean eatery in KL. B.Bap is the latest outpost in Avenue K which serves modern Korean food. Honestly, I am not a big Korean food fan. However, there are times I crave something savory and sour (no, I am not pregnant). I stumbled across this place during lunch hour. Surprisingly, there wasn 't a huge crowd. The place, as you 'd expected is 'modern ' looking without much character. The menu comes in a newspaper size which makes it a little hard to hold but easy to read. I ordered a kimchi chicken soup with rice and the rest of my colleagues (eight of them, btw) which all arrived in less than 10 mins. Call us skeptical, but my colleagues and I suspected that the food is pre-cooked. Having said that, the dishes served were pretty decent. Authentic? Maybe not. Cravings satisfaction? Yes.
