Bidrage med feedbackLoved their fried rice. It's very nicely done with rice cooked to proper consistency. Service was very good and my family enjoyed the other dishes too. A must visit place to try some of Asian dishes.
Really good food! Service was great. The only thing is they add a 10% ?service charge?. When I asked the waitress about it she said it?s so they can make more than minimum wage. That?s fine. But I ask, why not increase the prices by 10% to pay your employees better? Oh I know why, because the owner wants to add hidden costs.
I really wanted to like this place. Keep in mind that Umami and Tavernakaya are the same place. Let 's start off with the good things, the service was good, and the dumplings weren 't half bad. Now for the bad, the house salad was just ok, but the real awful was the ramen. We had the tonkotsu ramen with the spicy bomb and garlic bomb add on the server recommended. The ramen noodles were good. But the broth had a very fishy, saba (mackerel taste to it (in pork broth? . The meat was sliced really thin and had a weird taste too. To kill it off the spicy bomb wasn 't even close, siracha is more spicy. Maybe their sushi is better, but if half of your business is a Ramen bar, I would hope your ramen would be better than what I can get at a decent asia mart for $5.
I love this place. If you're looking for homemade noodles and a strong garlic flavor, this is still the best place in town for ramen. My only issue is that they used to offer two sizes of dumplings. I understand that with rising food prices, this may not be feasible, but I wish they would consider offering a dumpling meal option. I always find myself craving a large portion of dumplings - maybe 14-15 dumplings with two sauces for around $18-19. The food is amazing, but prices are increasing. I would love to see a dumpling meal on the menu that I could order weekly and have leftovers. The ramen with the garlic flavor is definitely worth every penny, and while the buns are delicious, they are a bit expensive. I recommend splurging on them when you can, as they contain big flavor in small bites, similar to a spring roll.
The food was average, nothing exceptional but not bad either. The service was excellent, especially the bartender with green hair who was extremely nice.
