Very good fish fry. very generous portions, and a pleasant and attentive service. Place was super busy but wait time was not unreasonable. Would visit again but probably not on a Friday night.
Mariner's is consistent. Service was decent, although our waiter was very rushed. We noted that he didn't share with us the availability of various sides when we heard another waiter going over them with a nearby table. It was restaurant week, so the menu was limited. Shrimp were great; lobster tail was embarrassingly small and dried out. It was redeemed by the small steak that came with the lobster tail. Salads were clearly pre-made since they seemed wilted and the included deserts were decent—-nothing special. Mariners has announced they will be closing next year. This was a “farewell” visit since we were visiting from out of town, having lived in Madison for many years.
I went for restaurant week. The entrees were all $30-50, BUT that was just the entree. If you wanted anything else on the plate (veggie, potato, etc) it was extra!! When you go somewhere for restaurant week, you expect the full package. Also, my steak was very over cooked and my friend's was too rare. I think they mixed up our requests. I waited for a replacement, but it was never delivered. They did comp the entree, but I would have preferred to have a nice dining experience. The outdoor dining was quite nice though.
We went for Restaurant week it was a beautiful night to sit on the patio. The steaks were amazing! The chowder the best!!! Our dessert was fantastic also. Rachel was our waitress she was exceptional. Beautiful night! Going to miss this place.
