This restaurant in the heart of State Street has a surprisingly upscale appearance. The food was both fresh and delicious, and the server was very friendly. The prices were reasonable and there was a great selection of beer and other drinks at the bar. It seems like a perfect spot for a date or a casual lunch with friends.
Before we were seated I specifically asked if the gyro meat was fresh and cut from a spit in the kitchen. of course I was told. Three in our party ordered them and they were clearly frozen, thin slices that were all the same size. Very disappointing. No flavor.
Seeking a middle eastern restaurant, we came across this place and loved it. The inside feels much like a bar lounge with booths and tables and there is plenty of seating outside as well. The food and service were excellent and the selection was great. Very centrally located. We were there when college was not open yet but we could imagine this place being packed on a regular basis.
I had the best tabouleh in a long time. Very fresh with lots of carefully measured ingredients. Comes in a big bowl ready to share. Will have it again. Also had the beef kebab that comes with rice and hummus. The meat was very taste but a bit tuff. Looks like it was precooked before grilled and was hard to chew. The “yellow” rice was good. The portions are well balanced, not too big or too little. We ate out in the street, State St. that is. The weather was great for it. I will go there for sure again and again. The staff was very efficient and friendly.
