Bottle Hill Tavern - Madison

We called in advance to reserve a table for our group of 10, which included a person in a wheelchair. When we arrived, I was surprised by how narrow the table was and how close the surrounding tables were. It was a tight fit to accommodate our handicapped guest, but we were able to make it work. I ordered the 4-piece deviled eggs appetizer topped with bacon bits, which was delicious. We ended up ordering two servings of popcorn shrimp because each serving only had 4 shrimp. Other restaurants typically serve smaller shrimp but in larger quantities. Everyone at the table enjoyed their main dishes, including burgers, pulled pork, chipped beef, and salmon salad. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with my herb chicken breast and grilled vegetables as the chicken was dry and the vegetables were overcooked. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was lively with closely spaced tables.

The food and service at this restaurant are excellent. The location is fantastic, but it can be a bit noisy, making it difficult to hear conversations with your party. Finding parking may also be a challenge.

The only positive aspect of this restaurant is its convenient location. Unfortunately, the service was subpar and the food was dreadful. I ordered the turkey sandwich, which was a complete disaster - dry turkey, plain white bread, and cold gravy. It reminded me of a middle school cafeteria lunch. The only saving grace were the wings, which were tasty. I will not be returning due to the poor service provided by our server, who ruined the overall experience.

We arrived on a Friday night and had to only wait 20 minutes. You can make a reservation for 6 plus but have to wait if it’s a smaller group. Kid-friendliness: Kids are definitely welcome and the waiters and waitresses know to pay a lot of attention to the children. It pays off in the end. Lol Wheelchair accessibility: A couple of tight corners but it’s on the first floor so all good. Really good lunch, efficient service. The Shrimp Po' Boy was crunchy and delicious, very fresh shrimp. We loved the Deviled Eggs too, good flavors. Definitely will return.
