Bidrage med feedbackWe visited tampu in the evening when we arrived at the sanctuary lodge. we were with a group that had just spent 6 days together to hike the inca trail after we had met the previous weekend. we were in a celebrity after successful conclusion of our trek....We first took part in the Pisco tasting, which was both informative and funny and then sat for dinner. the food was very good, and the service was excellent. my man and I have booked this trip together as a 15-year anniversary gift. our amazing guide must go along this detail to the tampu maitre D’, carlos caballero, as he went beyond and beyond to make us feel special. during dinner we were treated with a serenade of pachamama, a talented Andalusian musical trio, and a delicious dessert. the next day we had two more fantastic meals in tampu. we were once again celebrated with a ceremonial coca-infused pisco toast. it was the perfect end of a magical journey.
We were in the sanctuary lodge for our visit to the historical site. it is an excellent retreat after the visit and offers a great opportunity to enter the place early in the morning before the mass. the lodge is wonderful with a privileged view of the mountain macho picchu. the atmosphere is calm and peaceful. we had a private love renewal ceremony with a shaman in the amazing and peaceful garden in the hotel thanks to the helpful and service-oriented staff our stay was unique. we recommend the hut to extend the spiritual feeling that they will get at Machu picchu
First off, there’s only one awesome place to stay if you want to avoid the bus up and down to Machu Picchu. Second, the restaurant Tampu in the Sanctuary Lodge is wonderful. Great food and lovely service. Third, and most importantly, there’s such a warm...personal touch that Maitre D’ Carlos Caballero and his staff bring to every detail. My daughter and I were celebrating a special occasion, and they truly went out of their way to make the evening so special. I normally don’t write reviews, but this was worth it.
Dinner was excellent! Staff was excellent! Music was excellent! The Maitre D’, Carlos Caballero, and the Chef, Christian Mora, made our overnight visit to the Sanctuary Lodge one we may never forget and it all started with a simple bread bowl! Be careful what...little jokes happen between you, your husband, and the Maitre D’ because the next thing you will have is dessert served in another bread bowl and the Chef is in on it! So much fun! So much personality! We were laughing throughout the entire dinner. Thank you Carlos and Christian! Oh and the Sommelier was giggling as the hostess asked me a question and I had no idea what she said. Again the sense of humor and cheerful spirits from all of the staff was just the icing on the cake for our incredible South American trip to Ecuador and Peru. Since it is a restaurant, the food was excellent too! Try the tenderloin with the beet risotto…DELISH!!! Enjoy your stay! The Sanctuary Lodge is well worth it!
The lodge itself is the best (expensive, but right at the entrance to Machu Picchu) place to stay and its restaurant is first-rate too.
