We had another amazing dinner at Rama’s last night - it never disappoints. We live in Sydney and only go about once a year, but I SO wish it was our local. For a starter we had the roti parcels with pumpkin which are soft and lightly spiced. I notice everyone raves about the pork and we must try that some time, but it's so hard to go past our favourites, the delicious chicken dhai wala and potato & egg curry - both are outstanding dishes, and when we ask for them to be hot, they arrive HOT. Fantastic. We tried the palak panir this time, which was creamy and rich and my favourite of the night. Minnie was warm and welcoming as always, and the staff were friendly and efficient. Look forward to our next visit.
This is definitely the best restaurant in Canberra. The food is amazing, the service is fantastic, the location is great and the staff are like family. How Minnie remembers every single person who visits has me baffled. We have been going there for all of our family events for more years than I can count and never tire of it.Be sure to make a booking, they are very popular!
Food came out a little slowly, but overall was good. Lamb Saab especially. Not sure if it was good enough to warrant some of the 5 star reviews. Service was helpful, we had a few requests and they were catered for. Restaurant is getting a little old. Could do with a bit of an update. It was ver popular and 90% full of customers most of the time, so need to book for a Friday/Saturday. Take away orders also happening the whole time, so a little loud, but not too bad to still enjoy the mean and company. No alcohol available unless you byob.
We had a mid-week dinner at this suburban restaurant. It was reasonably full for a Wednesday night with a mixture of adult groups and of families. Very relaxed and pleasant environment. I think that they also do take-away. The owner was friendly and service was prompt and helpful. There is also plenty of parking in the carpark. We tried the smallest of the banquets - the restaurant was quite happy to switch out one of the red meat dishes for a fish. Banquets are never adventurous and I would like to come back and do a la carte to try a wider variety of dishes. The quality of food was very good - quite tasty and pleasantly spicy, as requested. I did find that three of the main dishes tended to taste rather similar but that may have been partly due to our swap - a lot of coconut milk. It was BYO.The price was modest and overall it was an enjoyable place to spend a relaxed evening with friends. We were not rushed out when we lingered over our conversation.
