I was very excited to find such a classy, fine dining experience right here in Mabank, Tx. The restaurant is a tiny, beautiful victorian style house. They serve 5 courses: salad, soup, appetizer, entree, dessert. The chef is a veteran of Le Cordon Bleu and her dishes are truly superb. Everything I had was very delicious. The leek and potatoe soup was excellent. The salad was small yet pleasantly contained lots of fruit and an unusual dressing which was great. The crab cakes were good. Not usually a fan of crab cakes but i believe she uses real crab which is fantastic. What made me give it four stars instead of five is the main course- which typically is the star of the show- it was very much a let down. The beef tenderloin was not cooked medium rare like I requested it was cooked medium, and the port wine sauce was very strange and overpowering. Plus side is they ended up giving my husband like 5 extra pieces of tenderlion simply because it was leftover. And my husband said his tenderlion that was cooked medium rare was amazing. Oddly enough they never asked if i wanted anymore pieces. The vegetables that accompanied the meat was very disappointing as it seemed to me that they were just frozen vegetables from a bag that was stuck in a microwave and served....even without salt or anything else on them. I 'm not really sure if that 's unusual for The Seasons or if that 's the way she likes it but I think for $35 a person they could at least have sauteed them in a garlic butter sauce or something. We then moved on to the malva pudding. Rich fluffy cake with a decadent glaze, some of the best cake I 've ever had! Really the exception to my chocolate desserts only rule lol. They gave us extra pieces of cake too, so cool but again I had to ask for it, whereas they just gave some to my husband. I want to try their buffett that is on Sundays, I bet it is the best buffett in the state. I think I would probably just stick to the buffett. But I would definitely return and recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and fine dining when you have the extra money.
Our meal was wonderful and it is so relaxing to spend time visiting with friends and family. Chef Christine is very talented and we look forward to many more times there!
I give it only 5 stars because they don't have six. jackiekennedyfishingguide
I was up visiting some friends in north Texas and wanted us to have a really good meal. We had worked in the food industry for years and didn't want anymore que, catfish, or chicken fried steak. Found Christine and her restaurant, The Seasons. Memorable and so so so good. If this place was here in Austin Texas there would be a line around the block. Whoever you are and where ever you are, make it a point to make a dinner reservation and get your buns and your appetites to this little hidden jewel in Mabank. Take the back roads it's a beautiful drive. Go on over to Ben Wheeler to shop and listen to music (and eat another good meal) at The Forge.
