Bidrage med feedbackStopped in for a drink with a coworker but was turned away. Can't call yourself a gin bar if you can only get a drink with food. Edit 11 Feb 2017 Came for dinner again and had the pork belly (not pictured), duck, pineapple upsidedown cake, Rollercoaster gin cocktail, and a gin cocktail with basil. Quick notes for the trip. Duck...I think the portions should be cut in half and add a little more ginger on top. It has fairly good balance with the richness of the duck, the sweetness of the hoisin? sauce, and the salt that is sprinkled on top. But is needs some more ginger placed on the top of it. Rollercoaster cocktail is fairly sweet from the passion fruit, refreshing, and tasty. The burnt marshmallow gives it a good twist. The basil gin cocktail was the surprising star...very refreshing! I would almost prefer whisky stones instead of ice so it doesn't dilute my drink. The pineapple upsidedown cake was good. The presentation was beautiful. My only ding...all that confectioners sugar around it. If you got that stuff on a bite it was too sweet...but that's just my taste, I don't like really sweet things. Instead of powdered sugar, maybe a rum infused cream vanilla bean cream would be better. I'll still come back... End Edit Let's have an in-depth review of this place. You walk in to a warm room and you are greeted, as I learned later, by the owner herself. I sat at the bar since everything else was reserved. The bar tender gave me a warm greeting and gave me some good suggestions for a cocktail based on what I liked. I had the Carribean Mule...rum, ginger beer, and the like. Well balanced and flavorful. I proceeded to order my tapas; mushroom and spinach dumplings, Hawaiian Poke, and grilled squid with chorizo and an onion jam. First came the Poke....it was amazing and it was the star of the night; easily a 5 star dish. Balanced with sesame, some green onion, and probably soy sauce, you could pick up each flavor as you took a bite. It was a meal in itself. The octopus came next; well plated and looked delicious. The octopus, chorizo, and onion played well together, as well as the hidden pesto like sauce underneath. I would give this dish 4.5 stars...for one reason...and maybe the owner can experiment with this. I thought it was missing an acid. I had some sweet from the onion, the octopus was neutral, chorizo provided some smoke and fat, but it needed an acid to really bring it to life. The mushroom and spinach dumplings came. One bite and there was flavor packed inside; earthy mushrooms, cooked spinach, garlic, and some spices. They came with some soy sauce to dip...but I thought they tasted better without it. Again, a 4.5 for this dish...and that was because there was too much oil left on the dumplings. Someone must have missed that in the kitchen. For dessert I paired a beautiful, in both taste and visual appeal, Floral Mist gin cocktail with a clementine rôtie. Wonderful evening pairing as the light citrus and rosemary notes of the cocktail complimented the clementine rôtie. They don't tell you, but you should ration and combine the clementine with the cream and nuts...a very good balance of citrus acid, nutty flavors, and decadent cream. Overall a good experience with a few touch points. I'll be back to see what else they have on the menu. I see they also have brunch...
This Restaurant/Bar is a very cosy and familiar place with a lot of tiny details everywhere. Also a top criteria is the Sunday brunch until 15:00 and the huge diversity of Gin's.
This place was simply amazing and to find out that the owner was our server was just splendid. She is so humble and amazing. I had the octopus with chorizo and the foie gras, both dishes perfectly executed and the foie gras especially tasted like perfection. The roller coaster seems to be a signature drink, with the toasted marshmallow, it was great and reminds one of late summer.
A place where one would like to come bruncher, but also to decode a rigorous selection of gins, Portuguese specialty of the house. The plates are beautiful and colorful, the different dishes. The terrace is taken in the beautiful days, in the pretty Brotteaux district.
A great choice of tapas to share... or not:p! It's good, fresh, cooked, scored, graphic. An original cocktail menu, Gin Tonic, you're here. Deserts to fall... I want to come back!
