Hippo's at Mohawk Marina - LOWBANKS

Enjoy the atmosphere and enjoy one of the best bacon cheeseburgers ever. a delicious surprise for my palate.

We dined a few times this season ... were weekly patrons before new ownership. Noted poor cleaning maintenance of washroom and tables and chairs during a pandemic. Employees did not wear masks either. We decided to give it one more try though. Messaged Hippos...and they stated they were closing for season Sept 27. We went yesterday on the 21st to be informed by postal service in the Marina that they decided to reduce their days open. Drove 50 minutes after confirming that they were open! No updates on their Facebook page and their website was taken down this year. Badly managed. Another issue last year and this year were inconsistencies with food amount and especially quality over cooked perch, undercooked greasy fries and perch coating falling off on different visits. And no management to be found.

Beautiful atmosphere with lake focal point. Best hamburger in the world. Blue cheese and apple salad great taste. Bar right there. New owner steve doing outstanding job. Bathroom clean big running water super clean! Relaxing day at the lake a must visit.

Had lunch from Hippos today and must say I was rather disappointed. As a vegetarian when friends or family want to eat there I generally order a quesadilla. These have become very “hit and miss”. Today’s was under the “miss” category. It was comprised of...a single small tortilla and One slice of cheese melted in the middle. Very disappointing especially for $6. Because we didn’t eat at Hippos I couldn’t speak to anyone about this but am not sure I will go back. Feel ripped off.

We stopped 2 times so far this summer at Hippos. The burgs and hot dogs are very good . The poutine was also very good. Prices are reasonable and the second time the waitress cleaned the table very well. Will go back again!
