Rumors Restaurant Raw Bar - Louisville

Both the fried and steamed seafood options are excellent! Service was quick despite a long wait for a table. Definitely a seafood/pub vibe.

Rumors is a longstanding local restaurant in Middletown and after a hiatus I suggested a visit for dinner with my family. Be forewarned that the crowd and parking lot stay busy, but add your name to the waiting list. It moves fast and they have a lot of tables. The servers and hostess were welcoming and so nice, recommending entrees as asked. You could tell they are used to managing the crowds of locals. We got a cold beer and onion rings yum! For my dinner I chose the fried fish platter with coleslaw. Overall I enjoyed my meal; the coleslaw is peppery so I might try another side during the next visit. Other meals at the table included the burger (huge! and the po boy sandwich. We didn't leave anything uneaten!

The food was subpar at best. We ordered loaded fries and it was a basket of fries with barely any cheese or toppings. If I wanted just fries that's what I would have ordered. I ordered the mussels steamed in garlic and cajun seasoning. I asked for no cajun seasoning. What I received was cold mussels with nothing on them. What was supposed to be butter and garlic on the side was some mixture of seasonings out of a jar in butter that tasted awful. I definitely would not recommend this place

I've been to Rumors many times over the years and I can't believe I've never reviewed them. It's a fun, divey sports bar with an above average, seafood heavy menu. Their grilled fish is good and their seafood pasta salad is tasty and chock full of baby shrimp. Their wings are huge and cooked well and the extra-hot has a nice kick. The service is always hit or miss and it seems pretty disorganized. All that being said, I wouldn't hesitate to return if I was in the area.

Rumors is more of my husband's spot than mine. We had good, friendly service and the food is good enough. It's hard to find healthy options. The space is casual (if not a little gritty? but the prices are higher than I'd expect for such an atmosphere. I'd probably opt for a different spot but he'll always return for their wings.
