We had such a bad experience here. We unfortunately came in when there was an extremely large group with only 2 servers. We didn't get our drinks for 30 minutes and this was a business meeting. We were constantly looking for a server and all the attention was paid to the large crowd. They should have closed their doors for this party because we weren't the only ones who suffered. 2 servers and they acted as the host, server, and bar tender (the group ordered a ton of drinks! . In addition to all this they completely changed their menu and had only 10 items to chose from. Not one pasta was listed!!!! Huge disappointment. How can you have an Italian restaurant with no pasta? Sadly, I won't be using I Gatti for my business meetings anymore. Our lunch was 2 1/2 hours with no dessert or coffee.
Service wasn't the friendliest, but they did wait for about 30 minutes after seating us for our 4th member to arrive. I'm not sure our server ever smiled at us and undoubtedly did not try to make more conversation than was absolutely necessary. We had to ask for a couple things twice. We came here on a Tuesday night, around 530 or so, absolutely no wait and plenty of tables. We ordered a couple orders of the caprese, and most of us ordered off the specials menu. The pasta was a little more cooked than I prefer it to be (I like al dente) but flavor was good and portion size was decent. I was staying here for work training so didn't have the highest expectations for food, I'd come back under the same circumstances but probably not of my own accord.
Yet another successful Mom/Daughter lunch and this time it wasn't directed by a Yelp recommend as much as a twist of fate. Initially going to a popular Los Gatos haunt that ended up being closed for a holiday break, we wandered down the street looking for an interesting late-afternoon lunch spot to replace our first choice. As we approached I Gatti, the outdoor patio was a friendly welcome, but the posted menu sealed the deal. The offerings were simple, yet diverse enough to guarantee something delicious to end up on our table. We entered the tastefully decorated restaurant only to find that it was woefully understaffed causing us to wait an unusually long time for a table. We weren't in a hurry and didn't mind the wait and we were glad our patience paid off in the end. We helped ourselves to a corner booth that perfectly suited our needs for a quiet place to talk. We ordered a few glasses of red and swapped tastes, pleased with both the house red and its Sonoma counterpart. The appie of the day (for us) was a delicious gnocchi. I'm not a huge gnocchi fan, but I was overjoyed when Mom said she didn't want to fill up on the starter and gave me the larger portion. The sauce was heavenly and the gnocchi perfectly prepared to melt in my mouth. A must to order if it's on the ever-changing menu. Mom loved her Mushroom Raviolis and my Steelhead Salad was perfectly prepared. For desert we shared another glass of red along with a Lemoncello (Mom's favorite). It wasn't homemade, but delicious nonetheless. Aside from great food and a hard-working waiter who single-handedly took care of the lunch rush, we were most impressed by the fact that long after everyone else had left, we were allowed to linger and enjoy our leisurely meal well past the lunch hour and almost into the dinner rush. They owner was more than gracious with us and our Mother/Daughter lunch was one of the best because of her graciousness. I Gatti has zoomed to the top of my list of heartfelt restaurants that care as much about their customers as they do about their food. Oh yeah, and ladies, give a knock on the wall when you're in the bathroom if you want to get a laugh from your friends and the staff. Just don't tell anyone I said to do it.
Thinking of a restaurant to celebrate a loved ones birthday is not an easy task for me. I wanted a romantic place with a touch of Italian flare. Nothing too outlandish but classy. I wanted a good bottle of moscato to go with the meal. I know that from the get go. We shared a very generous portion of their Beet Salad. Ordered separate starters. The bruschetta for me and the crispy calamari for the celebrant. The former simply was outstanding! The burst of different flavors when I bit into it was a pleasant surprise. The latter was a hit as well simply because with the calamari an added flavor of the crispy artichokes were simply divine. For our entrees we had the Crab Ravioli and Risotto. The former was perfect in consistency and was really tasty. But by then I only had a taste of my dish since I was too full from the bread, salads and starters. So the Risotto was packed and I enjoyed the starchy meal today. It was even better! The flavor seeped into every shrimp and rice and the result was a feast to be remembered. The requested candle and cake was granted and was on the house. Plus a heavenly tasting gelato! Sit outside and enjoy the nice weather and cozy arrangement. The staff was amazing from the phone reservation, good looking male host, our waitress and the ever busy buss boy. Our glass of water was never empty. Every request was catered to. Although I was disappointed the Moscato didnt make it to their wine list. We ended up with an equally awesome Prosecco Carpene Malvolti. So all is well!
