Bidrage med feedbackIt's a nice bar in the area a lot of beer on tap which is my good to since I'm not a mixed drink personParking is devilish as in its small, dirt road, very difficult to get out when it's full on the weekend, best to park along the road for easy exit.Overall definitely a place to go back to for a drink or two with buddies and coworkers
Unfortunately I have to write this poor review because our entire group was harassed and abused at The Thirsty Merchant on Sunday, June 4, 2023 by Kim the bar manager (blonde, tattoos, slim build). It started when the hostile security guard (African American male) yelled aggressively at my friend who had a small french bull dog and in the outdoor patio, even though other dogs were also present at the time. Apparently we were in the wrong section of the outdoor patio and were asked to relocate because of the dog. So we relocated to the proper section of the outdoor patio. And then suddenly the manager Kimmy arrives, asking my friend to leave. We told her that the dog had documentation for being a Certified Service Dog but instead she rolled her eyes at us and told my friend to Get the hell out. So my friend leaves with her dog but the rest of us stay to finish our drinks. When I asked the manager for her name, she said it was Julie . However I soon discovered from the security guard and bartender Nick that she lied about her name. Her name is not Julie it 's actually Kim! Completely unprofessional and unethical on her part especially as her role as a manager. The security guard himself admitted that the management has always been an issue, and many patrons have complained about her and her husband Justin (long beard with tattoos) who is also the manager. Apparently they are currently petitioning to fire the managers and get new ones!! Sign me up. So the assault occurred as Kim and Justin were clocking out around 6 pm. As she walked out I called her out on her real name and then she told me and my friends to get out...and then she splashed her water bottle all over us! THE MANAGER POURED HER WATER ON US!! Mind you, this was also in the presence of other small children...completely reprehensible and unacceptable, especially in the presence of babies and kids. You can only imagine our shock and disgust at Kim! Isn 't this a form of assault? Her husband, Justin (the other manager long beard, tattoos) approached us and got right in my face and said Get the FU*K out now and was also hostile to our entire group, causing an unnecessary scene in front of patrons. I also would not be surprised if both Justin and Kim were under the influence at the time. How do you approach an issue when the managers ARE THE ISSUE? Since this incident, we have been trying to get hold of the owners but apparently the bartenders do not have any contact information of the owners, or they are simply trying to act oblivious to save their unethical and disrespectful managers. Regardless, our experience at The Thirsty Merchant was very poor and we advise all patrons, families and children to take caution and be mindful of their own safety if they encounter Kimmy and Justin!
Not sure if he's just having a bad night, but bartender (Caucasian male, beard, a lot of tattoos) had 0 personality and was a little cold. Also had an attitude. I'm spending my money here so you can Atleast be more polite! Only reason for a 2 star was because drinks weren't bad.
First the positives, the food was good. Ate their carnita nachos, flatbread pizza and Buffalo cauliflower all solid food choices. The bar ambience was decent, still early evening so the crowd was pretty tame. The negatives are some of the same I had previously. The parking despite the bar not even being half full was a nightmare as usual. Trying to get the bartenders attention is a feat, waited about 5 minutes before getting his acknowledgment and this is with a less than half full place. The bartender and the server had zero personality- it seems they would rather be anywhere but serving customers. I personally won't be going back, I try it every year or so to see if things are different. The food has been consistently good from year to year but the service always seems crappy. Having to order food or drinks from bartenders even with a table doesn't help. Having a friendly waiter/waitress might help.
The place is a great hangout, or so we thought. I always try to support local businesses.I went with a group. The establishment has lots of games. The bartenders make some really good drinks but their personalities are stiff. Other than both bartenders doing the exact same thing, during 2 different shifts, they both tried to up sell from a regular to a double. We decided to test the bartenders on their conversation skills. So everytime we ordered we 'd send a male, then female etc. Once every single person from our party said no thank you individually the bartenders stood cold. There was no more conversation. One would have thought we took money outta their pockets. If you go here, may I suggest that no one expects salutations/greetings from the boring bartenders. Other than that, we had fun. BTW we still tipped the bartenders well. Hopefully they 'll spend their tips on Bartender Lessons on how to communicate with customers. Good bartenders will continue to bring customers back in. I will not spend my money in this place again.
