The York - Los Angeles

I really enjoy their Honey Sriracha wings. Great place to catch live music and hang out with friends. Seating is available outside on the sidewalk as well if you want to enjoy the outdoors. Their steak salad is also pretty good.

Prices are not bad, but parking is a total pain. Found out later there is a parking lot for businesses behind where you can cut through an alleyway to get to the front of the businesses. Smoking is allowed outside however. Because their front doors are left open. .... all of the smoke sucks right into the establishment. Which sucks.. if you are a non smoker. Because you find yourself trying to sit as far deep into the place as possible to escape the smoke smell. On the plus side.. the service was great and prompt. The bartenders very attentive. Their musical act was billed to start at 7 -9 pm. But they didn't even start until 830... and they were messing with sound check for a long time....I can understand bands starting 30 mins later or even an hr later.... but really don't advertise for them to start much earlier when they don't plan on having them come to later. That's just rude to your customers.

My husband and I just celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary on the back patio at the York (where we had our first date) and everything was perfect! The management was very communicative and made everything so easy, including acquiring a keg of my favorite beer from Missouri. The bar staff were very friendly and attended our guests very well, the whole thing was just the way I wanted. Also, those garbanzo beans on the appetizer menu are just phenomenal.

Cool little pub in highland park. i went to see an artist who i had seen in another group and she was playing here. the spot is super welcoming and pretty spacious without at all feeling detached or cavernous. staff is welcoming and friendly but also unobtrusive. decided to have a vegan burger though usually i don’t eat vegan. the burger was great. truly amazing and tasty on its own merits. in fact had i not known it was vegan i woulda thought it was beef. impressive as i know burgers pretty well. : reasonably priced at $18 as well. lots of fries which were fried perfectly. i will be back. cool spot.

Cuban was great.. But Fried garbanzo beans, not so much. My friend had them before a few times and was so excited to introduce me to them.. So much that she bought her own. Normally we could politely have sent them back to the kitchen or taken off the check. But the server was too busy taking selfies at the bar or chatting with the Bartender. She did come by one time after about ten minutes with our food.. Didn't seem phased by our sadness about the garbanzo beans.. And never offered a refill on water or soda. I had to go get the refill myself. I'd consider going back for the cuban but I wouldn't make it a planned destination, just if I Happen to hungry and in the area.
