Gourmet Pie Cafe - Los Alamitos

Absolutely love their French Toast here. Always on point. This place is a hidden gem with the only negative being that it has a small parking lot. Waited less than 10 minutes to get seated. The waitress was attentive, friendly, and always checking in on us. I highly recommend Gourmet Pie Cafe.

I can’t comment on the pies or how gourmet they are but I will comment on the burger. I had the California burger which is a cheeseburger topped with avocado, bacon, lettuce tomato and spread. It tasted fine. I wouldn’t call it gourmet but there was nothing offensive about it. There was nothing to write home about either unfortunately but I don’t necessarily regret getting it, just not something I would order again.

My 1st and last time there, simply because people return because of very taste food, not ambiance and service. Went there for brunch 6/28/24, my friend had Uncle Joe 's Famous Chili Beans Served Over Spaghetti $15.95) and other friend had Belgian waffle w/ blueberries on top $12.95). I had pancake breakfast $13.95). These dishes are very basic ingredients, you really have to work hard to make them tasteless, flat and unsatisfying. Well, the cooks worked OT. The chili over pasta was absolutely tasteless, no flavor at all, my friend should have sent it back. My other friend ate about 1/2 the waffle and blueberries, again, tasteless. My pancakes were very good, but the portions of the scrambled eggs and sausage patty were mini me size, I was very disappointed. Johnnie, our server was exemplary, I wish the food was 1/2 the quality Johnnie provided. The bill w/ beverages was over $60, what a joke, the management and cooks should be ashamed of themselves.

Seared salmon came out uncooked in the middle but good recovery on the part of staff to make right quickly on a busy Sunday lunch time , it gets very loud on a busy day, the coconut cream pie was great
