Bidrage med feedbackStopped here on my way to my alma mater 's Alumni Board Retreat at Raquette Lake. We are in the middle of the Adirondacks basically the middle on nowhere. I sat at the bar. It is 1pm. Service was friendly and prompt, although of the two bartenders Lizzwas much more simpatico. The bar was half full when I sat there and the place began to fill up pretty quickly with groups of four and six coming in. Always a good sign. The traffic was continuous from when I sat down. The place has booths and tables in addition to about 9 chairs at the L shaped bar. I got the chicken sandwich. It exceeded expectations. Also a glass of whiskey. I would stop in again for food and drink. Mark.
Decent food, but the service is very slow. I've been here twice about a year apart to have lunch with my family. Both times I got a burger, and the others got sandwiches. And both times it took over 45 minutes to get our food. The second time we had to ask for it to go because we had scheduled a boat trip and didn't want to miss it. They weren't totally packed, but most of the seats were filled. I am guessing the kitchen is staffed by a single person, so it just takes a while if there's multiple parties ordering meals. But again, the food was pretty good, and there's not much else in the area. So if you go for lunch, just leave plenty of time.
I love the Tap Room. Been going there for years. Nothing fancy, just good old local charm with history.
We stopped in on a recent drive up route 28. The new dining room addition was very nice. Service was excellent. We both had cheeseburgers and we shared onion rings. Both were excellent. We both thought that the cheeseburgers were the best that we've ever had. The onion rings were large and plentiful. We had a couple of Yuengling Oktoberfest drafts which were cold and nicely carbonated. This place was a very pleasant surprise. We shall return!!!
Have heard for years that they have the best cheeseburgers and that was no exageration. They grind their own meat and the burger was juicy and delicious. I have to agree with other folks who commented about the help--ask no questions, they growl at you!!
