Bidrage med feedbackI so wanted this to be so much better. We went based on reviews. I admit I am not familiar with Polish food. I had the impression many others in the restaurant at the time weren't either. We were a party of 5. Cute table redo to accommodate that. We loved the authentic feeling, loved the server, staff. We ordered. Orders were confused for all 5 of us. Food was bland (locals told us this was typical of Polish.?) Some event had obviously happened at the restaurant (we were told some one left without paying) which was throwing everyone off. This made us wonder about the location. No parking or rather unclear parking. Next door bank signs hostile. Time limits for bank patrons only. We will go back. To support the need for local, well meaning restraunteurs in a neighbourhood that so obviously needs local support to gentrify. But NOT at the expense of the supports already in place in this neighbourhood. The waitress and owner made an incredible effort to compensate for the situation. Thank you. If I had been thinking I would have advocated to not compensate our group, rather support the local community. I restate we will go back. Maybe it was being from out of town? Not knowing Polish food? Not knowing how to park? Bank security staff having a smoke? Coming at a bad time? Order the potatoe/cheese perogies, ask for more sour cream, and salt
What a gem of a restaurant in the old east village. You can tell the food is homemade, fresh, and just bursting with flavour. I couldn't decide between the perogies or the goulash, so the idea of mixing the two in to poutine - what a delicious Canadian twist on authentic Polish food! And the dessert is to die for! I highly recommend Unique Food Attitudes!
What a pleasant change of pace. This is authentic polish food, according to my polish husband. The restaurant is small and cozy but the food is fabulous. The cabbage rolls are a meal in itself and the perogies are to die for. My favorite is the tender breaded schnitzel, can't beat it. The staff is friendly and the service attentive.
Just discovered this place. Delicious authentic Polish food. Everything I have tried is good. Love the sauerkraut and mushroom crepes, pirogies, and the goulash. Delicious potato pancakes. Be sure to save room for dessert. Have the peach cake if they have it on the menu when you go. Also love the Carmel cake. Everything is made on the premises. Owner operated and they are very proud to welcome you. and well they should be because they have created a delightfully unique restaurant. Well done!
Our first encounter was with VERY friendly and helpful security in the small parking lot (free) behind the restaurant. Obviously the restaurant owners are highly thought of.Good sign! We chose our own table (1 of 10) - a high bistro style right beside the window which afforded us a front row seat to street activity in Old East London. The room is sleek and clean. There was a table of 8 young men who were so loud it was difficult to have a conversation but they were certainly enjoying themselves. Service was super fast. Small paper menus were delivered and more choices were listed on a blackboard behind the counter. After the 3rd water refill, Barbara Cycz was all excited to tell us about their water filtration system. How lovely to have no chemical taste !! She is the amiable Polish owner, server, chef and cashier. She is a graduate of the Fanshawe Culinary Management Course and cooks the way her mother taught her including blanching the cabbage to make a tender roll. We each ordered a "Polish Plate" @ $9.50- a cabbage roll and choice of 4 perogies (cheese and potato or meat or saurkraut and mushroom.) The cabbage roll was large and tender. It could use more meat and less rice. It had a bit of spice and was served over a creamy tomato based sauce. The perogies were fluffy plump little pillows topped with bits of carmelized onions and served with a small amount of sour cream. Our meal was delivered by a chef wearing a Fanshawe Culinary hat.It was obvious the staff were well trained! The paczki looked amazing - maybe on my next visit!
