After seeing videos about how Macellaio works/operates, I was very looking forward the whole thing of meat being brought to table before preparing or maybe being offered to go to counter and pick a cut. None of this happened. Disappointing, moreover if just a few minutes later other table was served as I saw it on video. I am not a chef and I was not exactly sure what I am ordering. If I saw the cut I would not order it. The rib eye steak was very very greasy. At least whole half of my cut was grisly and I had to leave it. We had bone marrow for starter which was quite nice. And my favourite beef tartar was very disappointing too. This is starter I order regularly and tartar in Macellaio was cut very thick and was completely missing traditional seasonings and it was served with only 2 tiny crackers. They would never be enough for the portion. We had to order extra bread. Who would want to eat raw meat on its own? On the other hand I must say that staff was absolutely amazing. Service was very good! They as well sang Happy birthday for me and I got very lively brownie. Thank you very much for this.
One of the best steaks I ever ate. Service was perfect, always there one time and friendly. Feels a bit like home but with the extra of having great steaks and watching a butcher exceling in his profession. Underestimated Restaurant. Looking forward to the next steak at Macellaio. Thanks.
Used to be my favorite steak house in London! But now the quality of service is seriously disappointing… 1. We always get seated in the outer dining room next to butcher while we made reservations, every time 2. Service is not attentive, not like before…e.g. we only managed to receive ketchup after finishing the fries 3. Asked for medium-rare steak but it came well-done, 1/3 of which was difficult to chew and left untouched. We complained to the manager and he’s like “Okay” and walked away… Sad and not sure we will visit again anytime soon. P.S. the cheesecake is amazing
Mad about meat? This is the place to be to have a steak with a side of steak. Our hostess Sarah was just amazing, her energy made the experience remarkable. Had the tastiest Bone Marrow topped with beef tartare. Beef Tongue
Friendly staff. The food was good even though expensive, in my opinion, to make you understand, me and my partner took a tartare and two burgers of the house, water and wine about 150 pounds. Wine a bottle 36 pounds. The tartare served it without anything so I asked to bring some bread (maybe they do not know that in Italy it is always accompanied by croutons) that have made me pay aside! This was a little ridiculous!... the waitress Catherine very attentive and helpful, good!
