Bidrage med feedbackI visited this restaurant based on the very good reviews. The older male waiter with the short hair was so rude! We kindly asked if we could be seated on another table as the restaurant was empty but had us seated besides the staff table and another couple during covid19. He responded you are 2, not 6. We didn 't complain that we wanted a bigger table, just another table to be more socially distanced. Funnily enough there were 2 women seated on a table for 6 so I 'm not sure why he let them sit on a table for 6 but wouldn 't allow this same treatment for us. We told him this wasn 't an issue and we would stay seated. He then complained to another staff that we wanted another table. She kindly offered us another table but once again we assured him that we were fine with where we were seated. He continued to speak to us rudely throughout the evening. We spent £100 and spent less than 40 minutes in the restaurant because of how uncomfortable this waiter made us feel. Food was decent but the wagyu beef was overpriced and what tasted like cheap meat would rather spend £50+ on a good steak somewhere. The grilled eel was lovely and can 't be faulted. If you want good Japanese food there are plenty of good spots in the Soho area. This restaurant wasn 't busy on a Saturday evening but we still had the most appalling service.
The venue is modern clean and welcoming. A couple of other tables were occupied during our visit so there weren 't any concerns on spacing etc. This was our first meal out in months, hygiene was visible/available and we had no worries on that front. We had sashimi, which although beautifully presented wasn 't the freshest. Eel fried rice, was unagi (eel) served on fried rice of the kind you find in Singapore and Malaysia. Seafood ramen was pretty tasty, though I 'm unsure why sweet corn was added. The owners also run the C+R Cafe in the West End serving Malay food, and this W2 branch was named the same and served similar food. Perhaps they rebranded it to C+R Izakaya thinking there is a greater market for Japanese food in W2? An Izikaya is a Japanese bar that also serves small plates of food (a parallel is Spanish tapas); but it 's not that either. So the food is 'ok ' but the cuisine seems somewhat confused. Tap water no charge. Surcharge of about 12.5% included in final bill.
We don't know of any Japanese restaurant in London that offers a fully Halal food menu other than C&R Izakaya. With an extensive menu, including a large sushi section, there's more than enough variety of quality dishes to have you spoilt for choice. After all, how many places offer large, delicious bowls of Halal ramen at very reasonable prices? Not many! The service at C&R Izakaya was superb as well, with ultra friendly staff who were attentive and prompt. We are locals and we love Japanese. We 've walked past this restaurant many times and never gone in because it 's never packed. But I looked up the reviews and they sounded fine, so we thought 'Why not? '. There 's a reason no locals frequent this restaurant. The food is absolutely revolting. The chicken doesn 't taste like chicken. It tasted so dodgy, we didn 't touch the main course. The vegetables were overcooked and the Summer Maki rolls were so chewy, I couldn 't eat them. We complained but the waitress didn 't care less and didn 't deduct a penny. Can honestly say have never eaten worse food in my life!
Easy access , located at the main road. Fine dine environment, good service and good food. Good for family, couple or even business treat.Good food presentation. This restaurant also a Halal food Restaurant.
