Espresso Hut - Logan City

In the corner of the car-park in the 7 Days Shopping Center in Eight Mile Plains, this small red hut sits just out of place to the pavement, but well enough to neatly fit some tables around it. This is not the most exciting shopping junction, though it does have what is needed - a fruit and vegetable barn which has a grungy look to it and is super-cheap. That is an aside though, this is what the discussion here is on. Design as the pit stop for many shoppers here, this little watering hole provides some basic food and refreshments. It does its job, and it ain't bad, it ain't memorable - it is just adequate more or less. After a bit of grocery shopping nearby, there was still the need to get some fresh produce. My housemate/dining buddy had noted to me at that particular store the fresh produce was pretty expensive for what it was. To save up and get better value, he knew of somewhere else to go and told me of it. Getting a coffee or some sort of snack was not really that much of a precedent, as soon afterwards there was a fundraiser to attend which would have food. That being said, the opportunity is often grasped with me when it is there, and this was one of those times. If it weren't for being in sunny Australia, this might look like one of those characteristic, neon-coloured little houses seen in photos of Scandinavia. The bright red colour makes it unable to be missed. Heck, getting here the truck drove up right next to it. So even with short-sightedness no chance was possible to not see it. The whole little hut is where the kitchen operation is, and the seating is several really casual tables strewn around the place. It is not necessarily for a sit down meal, and many of the food items are to go. Service is really casual, conducted among chaos and does not really follow order. All this is not a lack of professionalism from what I saw, but more or less crammed more transactions in on the day, and got people their grub sooner rather than later. Put it this way, I was behind my dining buddy about to get something with coffee when I was beckoned on the other side of the counter if I wanted anything. That is what I meant by that aforementioned statement. All of the service is friendly as well, and orders are called from the counter when they are done. At least for the coffee, and the sweet was nicked off the counter. Full meals might be different, so take what I said with a grain of salt. For the food that they have, it works if you either want just a small snack, something to have with coffee, a refreshment or some basic to eat. They have an all day breakfast, which is pretty basic stuff and at lunch it is still basic, having fritatas, sandwiches, salads et al. A range of sweets is available in the fridge and on the counter. For beverages, there is coffee, there is tea and milkshakes (plus the similar forms). Nothing swanky or unusual here, folks. Coffee is by Di Bella. What I say about it probably changes somewhat here and there, but what I remember being consistent is that this is never one of the best beans. You really need to get an extra shot in for any sort of strength, though it can also taste quite good. Still, it is not one I get excited for when I see the sign and it has become a familiar enough sign. As per usual, doppio, and as per usual it was competently done if not necessarily memorable. Extraction done right, the temperature was not super hot, and it had a decent enough feel on the palate. For a brief espresso, it will do. This was another chance at a review, so I bulked with the opportunity to grab something extra to go with it. A small sweet should do, as it often does. With a quick scan, the baklava took my fancy. This was good. The size was fairly small, but as with baklava it was dense. Drenched with sweet honey, and a thick stack of filo pastry, plus pistachios aplenty, this was what it needed to be. This place is ... okay. Really, that is about the extent of it that I can really muster. There is nothing outright wrong with it, even if the coffee could have been a bit stronger as a personal opinion, but at the same time there is not that much making it stand out from the crowd. In saying that, it does have its place ergo there is at least one merit going for it on that alone. With returning, maybe if I am around here getting fresh produce again in the future and feel like the caffeine boost then it is there, so I would go there by default and not complain. For shoppers alike, it is convenient, cute in being bright and diminutive plus has that whole pit stop ergonomics to it. Otherwise, Espresso Hut really exists and that is that.

A beautiful treasure at Eight miles plains, amazing service, great coffee and delicious food. They offer a variety of food throughout the day - lots to choose from.

A gem at the local that I just new its existence recently lol. The iced coffee is so good and when I had my first sip, I was like "this is so good let's forget about Starbucks". The hamburger is so filling and tasty. Will definitely go back.

Consistent, meals reasonably priced & look just like the pictures. Big draw card however, are the staff. So friendly, funny and warm EVERY time.
