Bidrage med feedbackWe love our Costa Coffee and have visited here a few times when we come to Liverpool for a match. The outside is great, very funky and arty. It is big with two floors. The staff are lovely and coffee great as usual!
I have previously written a review of this particular franchise of Costa Coffee. However, seeing as it has now reopened since its refurbishment and seeing as I have visited since, I thought it would be apt to write another, more up to date review of this place. In terms of the quality of food and drink here, it's your standard Costa pretty decent, although at times a little expensive. In terms of the upgrade, it seems to be a bit unnecessary the coffee shop was perfectly functional before, so the refurbished look seems a bit of a waste of money as very little is different compared to the standards of the reasonably circumspect consumer. I presume that the upgrade is in line with Costa Coffee's specification, so it likely has little to do with the staff here. However, one thing I feel it is right to alert you to is the confectionary selection offered here on my last visit. I visited here in January in order to get a cookie to go with my lunch. This is quite a big Costa Coffee, quite possibly the biggest in the local area, so you'd expect it to have a decent selection, right? Wrong! I observed the counter and was shocked to see a real scantiness of cookies, biscuits and other sweets. Very disappointing to say the least! In the coffee shop's defence, this was occurring under the national lockdown, so this may have had something to do with their short supply. Having said that, other places which were open, such as Greggs, had a decent selection, so this seemed surprising. But what is unsurprising is that I took one look at the selection and immediately darted off to Greggs. Hopefully when things start to reopen again, this Costa Coffee will once again provide a good range of food and drink, just like it used to. In that respect, I do not discourage a visit here. But please be warned that the biscuit selection may be lacking on your next visit.
This franchise of Costa is your standard Costa same quality of food/drink etc. It does get very busy however. There tends to be plenty of seating upstairs, however, the queue moves slowly as the staff are swamped by a generally large queue. It's also currently undergoing renovation, meaning it will be closed for however long (I'm writing this in January 2020). Once it reopens, it's worth a visit I suppose. There are other Costas in the area if this one is too busy, for example a couple of blocks down is Costa in NEXT.
The staff at this branch of Costa Coffee are excellent. I left my purse in store and called customer services when I got home. They took my details and called me back promptly. My purse was there and I was able to retrieve it the same day. Excellent thank you so much.
Unfortunately, this branch is a victim of its own success. As with all Costa coffee shops, the service is friendly and there is the usual range of drinks and foodstuffs. It is always very busy when we visit and the staff seem to struggle and keep the tables cleared and clean. The toilets can seem in need of care and attention at times too, which is probably unfortunately because of their high useage. Very sorry to appear a little negative this time, which gives me no pleasure.
