Bidrage med feedbackWe used to dine at this restaurant when we lived in the area years ago and decided to return during our visit to the Xmas Market. Unfortunately, we were disappointed to find that things have changed significantly. The curries tasted like they came from a supermarket jar, the poppadom pickles were strange, and the Pilau rice and Dansaak were an unnatural, glowing yellow color. The decor and furniture appeared worn and outdated, with paper tablecloths, ripped/cracked chairs, scruffy card menus, and tables set up in a converted corridor leading to the emergency exit. Overall, this was the worst Indian meal we have ever had.
I was in Lincoln with some friends for business and decided to try an Indian restaurant for dinner. Saffron was the name of the restaurant, and it seems like the only time saffron was used. The food was disappointing - the poppadoms were cold and small, and the three main courses we ordered all looked identical despite being fish, lamb, and a vegetarian option. They all had the same color and bland taste. The waiter seemed disinterested and was just waiting to leave. The empty restaurant on graduation night explained a lot. I would recommend avoiding this place if possible.
I usually use tripadvisor to give positive reviews for products and services I have received and rarely complain, but I felt compelled to leave a warning about Saffron in Lincoln. My partner and I had a day out in Lincoln and decided to treat ourselves to dinner in the famous Bailgate area. Despite the slightly rundown interior, we decided to give it a try. We have had amazing food in rustic settings before, so we were hopeful. However, we noticed other diners complaining about their food and making faces at their dishes. We decided to judge for ourselves. We ordered a bottle of white wine, which was not what we ordered but close enough. It was placed on the table unopened and the waitress didn't even acknowledge us. We then ordered poppadoms and a pickle tray, but the poppadoms were cold and stale, and the pickle tray was watery and tasteless. Our cutlery was wrapped in paper towel, similar to what you find in a public restroom. The main courses were even worse. The lamb curry and vegetable curry looked the same, with frozen vegetables and cold naan bread. The only decent part was the rice. As we were leaving, a party arrived looking for a table, but the dirty tables had not been cleaned. When I mentioned our dissatisfaction to the waitress, she snapped back with excuses and no apology. I left feeling like I had been ripped off. The bad food and service ruined our evening. This place is an insult to Indian cuisine. I recommend going elsewhere for a good curry experience.
Walked in and was able to book a table immediately. Lovely man asked us what drinks we wanted and starters. Poppadums ' and dips came, onion, mango chutney and carrots!!! Was surprised by the carrots, have to say. My friends pattern and my husband arrived. Ordered drinks and put in our order. An other group arrived and had drinks and poppadum 's, however, had not yet ordered. Food began to come out and was placed on the later groups table, one woman asking if this was lamb, the man she was with had no idea. The woman then poking the food with a fork. I stated to my friend that this was our meal, she said they may haver pre-ordered??? More food, which really did look like the food we had ordered kept coming. I then asked where our meal was. The owner came out and stated f..., that is the wrong table The server was oblivious. it was dreadful. The best was that the bloke stated to us, we haven 't even ordered yet!! we just left, will never go again. Used to be really nice, such a shame
Booked this restaurant for 8pm. They served us pappadoms and dips mango chuckney, onions and grated carrots. We order a bottle of wine and a bottle of water, at 8.45 they took our main food order, around 9pm one waiter came and said was everything ok would you like anything else??? My husband said we would like our food, he apologised, at 9.20pm they brought us a small starter on the house as we were waiting so long for food. At 9.40 they served our food and gave us an extra naan bread again on the house. To be honest we were past it by then but we made an attempt to eat some of it. I'd say the food was just ok. My husband went to the toilet before we ate and said there wasn't any running water from the tap so couldn't wash his hands. He had to pour some of my water in his hands and use a serviette to dry them. The staff were very apologetic all the time and gave us a shot of sambuka again on the house. I would not go again.
