A casella - L'Île-Rousse

This is a great lunch place that we visited tonight! what a great sound! the food was delicious and the waiter still great service, although he worked all day! the weinreco helped us with the English/French how best to eat the steak-veal-T bone. will be back!

Seemed like such a nice place. But maybe only to French peepz/locals. When seated, asked for the menu. Never ever have we encountered such a visibly annoyed waitress. Why we haven 't a clue... Then we got the menu, with message: no food . No further explanation....We ordered drinks, which came fast enough and were ok. But then for maybe about an hour no one came to check on us. Eventually went to the bar to pay. Service included, it said on the menu... wait, what service?

Despite having at least five staff, they couldn't service any table effectively even if only drinks, and not food, were involved. Pity because it's nicely situated on the sea front. But every customer's patience wore thin after the long waits and surly eventual service....I suggest further along the beach Le Grand Large. Altogether much better, with the same great sea view.

We had rented two beach beds and parasol the day before. Returning the next day it was explained, quite aggressively, that this was not now possible without having lunch. I struggled a little to understand, employing my schoolboy French as best I could but...the response was just spoken, full blast, arrogantly in French with no attempt to slow down 'pour l 'Anglais. ' We sunbathed to club anthems hardly suited to the otherwise tranquil environment. We began to worry with the pre lunch smell of fried onions. For lunch we had a terrine of fresh salmon which was totally ruined by the addition of lashings of oil and red onion! The tomato and buffalo mozzarella was also destroyed by way too much oil, more red onions and unfresh pesto. Neither were even modest value at €14 each. One waitress tried but the 'manageress ' and others seemed to have little idea as to how to run a restaurant. Our change sat on the bar for much too long, so, after everything else, we decided to collect it and not tip as normal. Then, only to find that it was a euro short not the biggest failing of the lunch, but rubbed salt into our wounds.

Very relaxed atmosphere but very serious in the service. top restaurant, and cheap. The place is magical and the team is very nice.
