Bidrage med feedbackI regret to say that I do not recommend booking a cream tea at this restaurant. There were numerous problems that were unacceptable. The sandwiches were inedible due to the hard bread, and the food was served still wrapped in cling film. We waited nearly 40 minutes to receive our drinks, and despite warning the staff multiple times about a party member's nut allergy, we were all served cakes with walnuts. When we raised the issue with the chef, he seemed clueless. I lodged a formal complaint with head office but received no response. We were eventually offered another cream tea to show us how it should have been served, but this should have been done in the first place. The main reason for this review is the poor handling of the situation by the Hilton, particularly the serious issue of serving nuts to someone with an allergy.
During my stay at the Hilton, a place I have frequented numerous times, I decided to dine at Flavours despite my previous less than satisfactory experiences there over the past 8 years. Along with the A la Carte menu, I was also given an Oriental menu with some intriguing options. Although my starter was passable, the main course I selected – salmon with an Oriental glaze, Bok Choy, Savoy Cabbage, etc – appeared appetizing upon arrival, but unfortunately turned out to be overly oily when tasted. Upon further inspection, I realized that the plate was drenched in oil! Even attempting to cut the Bok Choy released more oil. I was astounded that such a dish could make it past the chef. I immediately sent back the meal and was offered a replacement or alternative, but I had lost my appetite and requested the bill instead. To my dismay, I was only charged for the starter and bottle of water, as they had removed the offending dish from the bill. I believe I should have been given a more sincere apology and had the entire bill cancelled. Despite having had satisfying meals in the bar previously, I would not recommend Flavours for fine dining. It is apparent that they excel in pub food such as fish and chips, beef and ale pie, chicken tikka masala, etc., but their fine dining options leave much to be desired. If I stay at the Hilton again, I will definitely steer clear of Flavours until they make significant improvements in their kitchen.
We dined at this restaurant while staying at the hotel for the night. We started with the soup, which was very nice, but the bread was a bit stale. For our main dishes, we had a huge pizza, which was not bad, and I had a curry that was quite tasty, although the naan bread was a little hard and stale. Overall, we were a bit disappointed as we have had many meals here in the past and have always been impressed by the food quality.
I went to eat dinner at this restaurant while staying in this hotel, I ordered Beef and Ale Pie, upon the waitress recommendation,, which came out to be an incredible choice. Great meal, perfect taste and flavor. I am coming back for more, great customer service and even though it is a bit pricey it is great food.
We booked on line and had a tariff that included dinner, there were 2 adults and 1 child but they allowed us all the same allowance of £25 on food. The staff were helpful and pleasant, we ordered drinks which were bought to us very quickly. We had chilli, steak and fish and chips, they were all very good, the fish was fresh and the steak was very nicely seasoned. We were able to have desert from a buffet, the chocolate tart my nephew hard was very rich and dark but he enjoyed it, we had lemon cheesecake which was light and refreshing. We had breakfast in the restaurant it was very good, we all had hot food and my nephew made a waffle which he really enjoyed. There was an extensive continental choice, pastries looked nice and there were lots of different cereals.
